Smoking in Rooms

Since Carnival implemented their smoking restrictions, they started clearly posting in the Capers where you are allowed to smoke.

The information is posted in the Capers every day. And no where has it ever said in any Caper that smoking is allowed in your cabin.

They talk about PUBLIC areas that allow smoking...a cabin is not a public space.

I think they intentionally leave ashtrays out of the room at first to throw off the "psyche anti-smoking freaks" (those that will immediately find the room "stinky" and break into a rash if they think someone has smoked in it anytime in the last 2 years). These are the same people that upon seeing you light up a cigarette a 100 yards away, immediately began fanning their face with their hand. The mind is a powerful thing . . . . :D

LOL!! I agree with that...sort of :D and I am a non smoker.

Again, I am smoke sensitive and have NEVER had an issue in my cabin. But smokers shouldn't get too pissed when a non smoker does the hand wave in front of the face thing. I know that some people are dramatic...that is absolutely true, but you smokers have no idea how far that smell does travel. I have a pretty large house. We are all non smoking in here. My mom, who is a smoker came for a weeks visit. She politely smoked outside on my back deck. One night I went into my master bathroom which is also in the back of the house, yet a good distance removed from the deck below, and an entire floor above, my bathroom smelled as if she had been right in there smoking. I had to keep the windows in the back of my house closed the entire week.

I do know that there are a lot of non smokers who behave like idiots, but smokers have to understand that their smoking does have a big impact on someone who doesn't smoke. It does not give a non smoker license to be rude however, and at the same time, a smoker should also respect the non smoker and not act as if their smoking doesn't affect us, because it does. Fortunately, MOST people on either end are respectful. It's just the over-the-top few that make it hard on either end.

I agree with Halos, there's no need for non-smokers to be totally rude and overly dramatic in their reaction to smokers. I also agree with the point that sometimes they don't realize how strong the smell is and how much it affects non-smokers. I, too, am a non-smoker who can sniff out the faintest scent of smoke from pretty far away. Maybe I have an overly acute sense of smell, but it really does bother me sometimes.

I guess my biggest pet peeve is when smokers stand just outside a public doorway and smoke. Yes, they're outside... but then everyone is forced to walk through a cloud of smoke anytime they want to go in and out of the building. Not to mention that the smoke is sucked inside anytime the doors open. (I'm not saying all smokers do this, I do realize many are very considerate).

I think it would be a good idea to not allow smoking in the staterooms. You're not allowed to have candles, irons, or other fire hazards in the room, so why is a cigarette any different? There are plenty of outdoor areas to smoke that pose less of a fire risk.

I am a non-smoker who is married to a smoker (15 years). My husband never smokes in the house so we never have a problem with that at home. Therefore when we go on our cruise in Feb. I have one more reason to book a balcony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on 2 Carnival cruises and I have never smelled smoke in either of our cabins. And the smell of even the slightest bit of smoke first thing in the morning, causes instant nausea. Never have I smelled anything.

i an trying to swipe the smoking happy face, hope it works. I just like it

I'm a smoker. I smoke in my home. I smoke in my cabin when on a cruise. I smoke in areas on the ship that allow smoking. I would not and do not smoke anywhere that it is not allowed.

What peeves me off to no end is when I am in a smoking area and a non-smoker comes up to me and tells me (not even asks but tells me) to put out my cigarette because it's bothering them. Uhh, I don't think so.

Same with in the casino. I know it's smoking and I also know if non-smokers want to gamble they have to put up with the smoke. I do not light up next to someone. If someone is sitting at a slot machine and I sit down next to them-no lighting up for me (unless i see they are a smoker) BUT if I'm sitting there first smoking and someone sits down next to me and then complains about the smoke- well too darn bad- Get up and move. If Im next to non-smoker who was there first and I wanted a cigarette then I would get up and move.

Ughh> Okay, that's my rant and I'm sticking to it. Let the flaming begin :p

I was smoking on the Triumph last year at a smoking bar on the Lido deck. A man was very rude and made a comment to my daughter and I...she was smoking too. I told him very politely that this was the smoking bar and pointed out the ash trays and pointed to the area for non-smoking. He still insisted we put them out. I again, politely told him he would have to move. He was so irrate we were afraid he was going to punch me. He then went over to a security guard....after talking with him the security guard told him the same thing I did. He came back over and asked again so I blew smoke IN his face and told him I would not put it out for him.....it was really scary. After that he finally stormed off. So you see, it's not just the smokers that are rude...the non-smokers can be rude also.

did not have the word "public" listed. They merely said "Designated Smoking Areas" and then listed all the places you can smoke. And again the cabin was not listed.

I have not sailed on the Glory, Victory or Legend (or on any Destiny class ship)....so I do not know if they use a different format.

Personally, I know first hand (watching my sister tormented and tortured for 2 years before her eventual death) what fate awaits...so smokers can act as entitled as they want to....because I know the fate that they have "entitled" themselves to.

Sadly, I will have the last laugh...but I won't be laughing.

That's something that I would do..... I'm glad that there was a security guard nearby! ;)

The smell on my husband has never bothered me. It is the air that Makes me sick, and again it is only when I am sleeping and it wakes me up. My favorite thing in the world to do, is play bingo, and every bingo hall has smoke as thick as can be and that never bothers me either. But let me be asleep and smell a cigarette and I am instantly sick. Wssh DH would quit smoking (for his health) my dad died from emphasyma last year and its not a pretty site. But I know an addiction when I see one. DH has cigarettes and I have BINGO!!!

While I am a non-smoker, I am always ready to stand up for a smokers rights. Don't go to an area where people are allowed to smoke and ask them to change. The non-smokers have plenty of non-smoking areas and smokers areas are getting smaller and smalller. With that said, unfortunately, when we go to a resturaunt, I do want to set in the non-smoking area. My DH says that if people keep asking for non-smoking areas they will keep getting smalller and smaller until there wont be one. But I do like to eat without smoke. "smoking may not be good for my DH, but I love him anyway!!!!

So are the lungs.

20-30 minutes of hard cardio almost every day on the treadmill at the Spectrum Club, at 80% (training rate) of the absolute maxiumum heart rate of a 40 year-old (220-40 times 80% = 144 beats per minute)

And I'm 66 ! ! :D (seldom use elevators on cruise ships)
