Baltimore cruise - cell phone use

Does anyone know how long my son can use his cell phone when we cruise out of Baltimore? I think I read that he can use it as we cruise the Chesapeake. Is that a few hours of cruising time?

I always lock up my cell phone so I've never cared, but a 15 year old will want to text until the last minute.

On our last 2 Pride cruises we had service for around 6 hours leaving Baltimore. When we were returning, service started around 11pm

It takes about 7 hours to sail down the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore. More than likely you can still get a cell signal most of the way down the bay. Once the ship clears the bay and passes Va. Beach cell service will drop out or go through the ships cell system at their rates.

Tell the kid to turn the phone off, make some friends and relax...he is on vacation!

 

Plus, then you don't have to worry about the roaming charges ;)

We usually lose and regain service at the Bay Bridge and Tunnel around midnight.
