Parking ??

Recommended Posts

Hi - I'm new to all this .

I'm going on Explorer of the Seas out of Southampton in August.

Any observations about parking, not researched it yet but any advice appreciated.

Many thanks to those who have replied so comprehensively to my first questions.

Regards

MW

I'm going to say the same as above ABParking, the official car park for certain cruise lines. The car park is well signed, well organized and so close to the ship. Baggage porters are waiting for you to unload your bags and the next time you see the bags they're outside your cabin. Probably slightly dearer than off site parking, but for the ease and professionalism, well worth the money!

A cheaper alternative to port parking is http://www.southamptoncruiseparking.co.uk/

It's on the opposite side of Southampton Water & includes a 20 minute minibus transfer. As a rule of thumb, because both options are charged a flat daily rate most folk consider the saving worth the hassle for a cruise of two weeks or more, but not a cruise of a week or less.

Both are secure, both operators are reputable.

Or use a local resident's drive via http://www.parkonmydrive.com/

But check the house-holder's & your own insurances.

Beware meet-and-greet operators. Have heard good reports of http://www.parking4cruises.co.uk/ but others are guilty of the sort of nonsense that gives meet & greet a bad name - parking on streets/waste ground etc/ private use of your car, etc.

Hi Cruisenumber1

I would recommend Alternative Cruise Parking(ACP) who are situated over at Marchwood ( opposite side of water from Cruise terminals) transfer time approx 20 minutes.

They are reasonably priced very friendly and efficient staff.
