10101 Posted April 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2004 We will be on the Grand which has a day in Hamburg. Among the offered land tours is a trip to Berlin that involves many hours of travel. Has anyone done this tour who would comment on it? It sounds like it is seven or eight hours train travel for just a few hours in the city. My husband and I are energetic seniors, but still wonder about how stenuous a day this is.
GottoCruise Posted April 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Not only is this a ridiculously expensive excursion --you will not see anything of Berlin and will fall asleep on the (almost) 4 hr. train/bus ride (X2 for both ways) - You will just "pass by" or have a minute photo stop at most at the Berlin sights. Berlin is a fabulous city to visit - museums etc. but you need time there - not on the bus. Forget Berlin on this cruise, and stay in Hamburg. OCruisers Posted April 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We had already been to Berlin so did NOT do the tour and feel we made a BAD decision by staying in Hamburg. If we had to do it over, we would take the trip to Berlin.
