Cabin Question (deck 9, forward, Gem)

I am taking the Gem on a 10 day cruise from NYC to the eastern Caribbean. According to the NCL site, I have been assigned inside cabin 9025, which is deck nine (obviously) and forward. It is next to just one other cabin and I think it's pretty near some stairs or the elevator. Has anyone stayed in an inside cabin located forward on the Gem ... either deck 8 or 9? How was it?

You have cabins above and below you, so that part is perfect, but I wonder what that empty space next to your cabin is. Maybe a linen closet? Water pipes access? I have no idea. Personally, I'd see if I could be switched to cabin 9045 or 9049.

We stayed in a balcony 9044 and when we went to use stairs or elevator we could see down the hall. I am going to guess a linen closet because I would always see the stewards going in and out of a room over there even during the lifeboat drill they came out with life vests. Could be noisy. Insides across from us were very quiet but real small.
