I contacted the operations manager at RED SAIL and this was the reply I got

{ The ferry service should be running on a regular weekly schedule for the season starting around December 20, 2005. It has not been running since Hurricane Ivan because tourism and visitor levels along with increased fuel costs have not justified the operation of the vessel. Additionally the main restaurant is still under repair. We hope that this trend will be reversed in 2006.} unfortunately my visit will be too early to take advantage of the ferry but I hope the rest of you cruisers can enjoy rum point by ferry
