So, are you saying you placed all your winnings on your card? Hmmmm, I don't win in the casino, so that wouldn't work for me?

That is exactly what I did. I only took money out at port, and I did no excursions. I had a blast walking around to different shops and taking silly pictures I would never get a chance to take at any other time. I don't need to spend extra money on excursions. There is so much to do at port.

I'm happy to do my own thing in ports within a reasonable distance or ones I am familiar with but when you fly across to the other side of the world to ports to which you may never see again..then I'll spend whatever it takes...rather than regret.

Ours is usually $200-300 for the two of us.

Our best were two cruise that Carnival actually cut us a check when we got off the boat. One we had so much OBC from price drops that we had about $75 left at the end of the cruise. The other time we got a check for $250 because we won bingo.

You were lucky at the casino. I need to get that luck from you! :-)

I'm with you. Some of these ports, we will never see again. Like this cruise, we are going to Morroco. "Play it again Sam"

Ours has ranged - the highest was $1,400 when my MIL turned 60 - I bought every picture, we did the Steakhouse AND Chef's Table (both on us), drinks, souvenirs galore...

The lowest it's ever been is about $300.

Generally, it's about $500 between tips, drinks, casino and store purchases.

On my last seven day cruise on the Magic, my bill was $1800 for two. It included tips, $560 in drinks (no Cheers program), one massage, one excursion in Cozumel, plus we ate at the Chef's table once and the steakhouse twice. I don't gamble, and I don't buy in the shops. I wonder how many people with the extremely low S&S balances remove their tips or maybe prepay them?

We usually average $200 but I am not a drinker and tips are included in my tab. I have not had onboard credit. Seemed those deals just cost more up front. Also I prepay excursions.

I usually purchase excursions separate from Carnival, I usually have some on board credit, and while I spend a large amount of money in the casino i gamble only with cash never on the card so my total balance is usually in the 200's or less.

$0.00

pre paid all tips.

has over 800 in OBC from price drops,

Added cash I brought with me as needed, I went with a hard line budget, so the cash I had on day one was what was meant to last until I got home. had plenty left

Total cash spent was around 400 between my wife and I, but like I said, we had over 800 in OBC

  • 2 weeks later...

Last cruise on Pride we ended up with about $300 on the final bill- with tips, couples massage, a few drinks a day, steakhouse, photos, 1 soda card....we had over $300 in onboard credit and then put a bunch of our remaining cash on the account the last day. We were happy with it. This time around there will be no steakhouse and no couples massage, so it will probably be considerably lower. We just aren't big drinkers or gamblers so the money doesn't pile on too much.
