Question for all who have received the Upsell call?

I have received the upsell call three times. I have always booked direct with Carnival. I have taken each offer...very delighted. I now let them know when booking I am open to upgrading if the price is right to a better cabin. I have been offered moving from a balcony to a suite, from a Jr or Ocean suite to a Grand suite, and once, I got to go in the Owners suite.

Well... this was last year.. but... I was booked solo in a inside cabin on the Lido deck on the Victory. About two weeks before sailing, I got the call. I was upgraded or upsold to a balcony on Lido for 100.00 total. I grabbed it. They offered me the panarama deck, so i asked if anything was available on the lido because that was where I wanted to be. They offered me a suite for 400.

I booked online with Carnival.

I've gotten the calls when I booked thru carnival-both on an early saver rate and a military rate.

I've only taken it once, going from an inside to a balcony for $100 total

For 2. The others have both been a balcony to a suite for $600. Not worth it to me.

Received an upsell email last week for my first time ever. Had inside Veranda deck booked was for an oceanview for $60 more. I am booked directly with Carnival.

I turned it down. We are on a b2b and have the same room both legs. Now if it had been a balcony.;)

From what I understand, Carnival cannot contact you if you are booked through a TA. They might contact the TA but not sure about that. Have never had it happen to me when booked with a TA.

PVPs work for Carnival, so they will contact their customers directly. If you book directly w Carnival, then Carnival will contact you. If booked w a TA, only TA can correspond w Carnival on your behalf. If I was a betting lady and btw, my last 3 cruises were all courtesy of the casino, my bet would be the up sell goes to the customer dealing directly w Carnival or a Carnival PVP.

Got the upsell email for our last cruise. Upsell from a balcony on Lido deck to an ocean suite for a total of $200. We took it. Really enjoyed the extra balcony room. We booked our original cabin through our pvp at the early saver rate.

Is it always in the form of a phone call? I got an upsell from another cruise line on my last cruise I took to Alaska and it was in the form of an e-mail telling me to call a certain number within 24 hours. I called back in response to the e-mail and got a balcony for 2 for $100.00

I understand that sometimes will do it via email

I have been on 4 Carnival cruises and this was the first upsell call I have gotten - all 4 previous cruises were balconies or extended balconies booked with a travel agent at AAA Auto Club. This is the first time I booked online on the Carnival Website. I booked an extended aft view balcony.

I should say however, we were offered an ocean suite - a bit bigger room and patio and a tub. We didn't take the offer as we didn't really think it was that big of an upgrade for $1000. The $500 each we saved will pay for our cheers program... ;)

I have been upgraded twice but only once with Carnival. They moved us, without our permission, to an equivalent balcony under the Lido deck. We did not know until we checked in at the port. I begged them to put us back, but of course, our cabin was already gone. It was the worst cruise of my life because we did not sleep for 8 nights due to the noise. The other upgrade was on Celebrity. They called my TA and offered us a concierge or a handicap cabin on a 10 day Hawaiian cruise. We took the concierge and it was fantastic.

The last upsell that I took was in the form of an e-mail. We booked directly with Carnival in a balcony guarantee. Was assigned an 8E balcony (Lido) and was offered a grand suite in the e-mail.

No, not always a call. My upsell was in the form of an email.

I would like to know:

  1. What rate were you booked at?
  2. Booked TA or direct with Carnival?
  3. If booked with TA did TA get the call or did Carnival call you directly ?

Thank you.

I booked Early Saver, directly with carnival and Carnival called me!

I got my first upsell call earlier this year (30+ cruises), I declined because it was a B2B and I didn't want to change rooms.

Upsell called again last week for my 9/27 cruise on the Magic and I took the offer going from an interior to a balcony for $200 total. Price is still under $600 per person which is the max I'll pay for any cabin.

Only received the calls when I hit Platinum with Carnival. I have only received it on the ones that I have booked direct with them. Turned one down, as I though the cost was too much. Took the one last November on the Conquest to go from Balcony to Ocean Suite for 390.00. I have not received any calls for this October for an upsell and as far as I know the TA has not either, but I am booked as part of a group.

We are going on our first cruise in ten days and received a call a few weeks ago to upgrade from ocean view to a grand suite for 500 total. There are four of us in a room, so we took it for the extra space. We booked through a PVP but it was someone else from carnival who called us.
