Are mens dress shorts with loafers and polo shirt acceptable for MDR (not formal nights obviously)?

Also, any specific floor or location best to request for MDR?

Yes, mens dress shorts are fine. Also the down stairs of the MDR is for traditional dining and the upstairs is for your time dining.

As an FYI, the Pride does not have a special dress code for just that ship. It's Carnival's MDR dress code and it applies to all ships in the fleet.
