NO post cruise - Hilton Riverside or Wyndham French Quarter

We are going to stay two nights post-cruise in November. I had booked the Hilton Riverside but found a better deal on a Wyndham New Orleans French Quarter. The Wyndham is less expensive and offers free parking with the rate. Which location is closer to French Quarter/bourbon Street/Jackson Square? Which is a nicer hotel???

I believe the Wyndham is the old Holiday Inn French Quarter, 124 Royal St. Stayed there several times as the HI. Great location 1 block from Bourbon Street. Jackson Sq is several blocks away. Hilton Riverside is on the other side of Canal street and probably 10-12 blocks from Bourbon St and farther to Jackson Sq.
