WisRiver Posted August 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2015 We will be on the Fram's Antarctica trip later this year. I understand that the ship's electrical system is 220 volts. Are the plugs the two round prongs like those used in France and Sweden? My wife has a 220 volt hair dryer she purchased in Sweden. Should she bring it or does the Fram have a hair dryer in the cabin? Tack
SarniaLo Posted August 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2015 Yes, the electrical outlets are the same as in France, two round prongs (they are actually the Norwegian outlets). The cabins are a bit sparce on outlets so if you have many things to charge you might want to pring a multi-socket adaptator. You have to put your cabin card for the electricity to work (one outlet works all the time) but it will actually work with any card-size piece of plastic or cardboard. I am 99% sure that there is a hairdryer in the cabin but wait for confirmation from someone who actually use it (I don't - no time! :) ).
digitl Posted August 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I have just checked with she-who-will-know regarding the hair dryer and the answer was 'Yes, it's on the wall in the shower/toilet'. And, thinking about it myself, I do seem to remember having to wait from time-to-time while it was used... eggydreams Posted October 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Hi WisRiver, What is your embarkation date on the Fram. Cruisecritic is so frustrating. There is no roll-call option on here. It would be fun to start connecting with people on our trip. We leave Ushuaia for the Falklands on 11/30/2015. Adrienne
