balticbabe Posted August 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2015 My 22-year-old son enjoys wearing what he calls his "dressy jeans." I read in Rick Steves book that jeans of any type are not allowed in the cruise ship dining room on regular nights. (not formal, of course.) We are leaving on the Princess Regal next week. What do you think?
OCruisers Posted August 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2015 (edited) No problem! He can wear nice jeans in the MDR on non-formal nights on Princess ships. :) LuLu Edited August 26, 2015 by OCruisers
WorldTravelz Posted August 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2015 Lots of jeans in the dining room on RCCL ships on non-formal nights. We did the Baltic on the Serenade of the Seas in June and he wouldn't feel out of place at all. Most guys wore polos or button down shirts, some even wore t-shirts. cirman52 Posted August 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2015 Wore "clean" blue jeans for dinner on Celebrity and they now allow crew neck shirts.

What do you think? Bank a bit of good will/flexibility from the maitre d' by having your son pair his dressy jeans with a Polo shirt rather than a crew neck tee shirt. If Polo shirts were good enough for the heroes of the recent train terrorism incident at their medal ceremony, they ought to be good enough for your son in the dining room. Boat shoes rather than athletic shoes would also kick up the dressiness level without sacrificing comfort at all, although bring those athletic shoes for touring. OCruisers Posted August 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2015 The OP is cruising on Regal Princess. Princess allows nice jeans on non-formal nights in the MDR. It's best to wear a collared shirt (polo/golf is fine). Athletic shoes are also all right for non-formal nights. :) LuLu
balticbabe Posted August 28, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Thanks. His standard "uniform" is dressy jeans, nice shoes, button down shirt, so it sounds like he will be fine!
