RecoveryDude Posted August 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Hi!! :) So excited to sail on Carnival Paradise in 11 days on 9/10/15! Never sailed that ship before! We are on Empress Deck, E55 OV cabin. Who has some Tips? Tricks? :) For example, any "secret" decks or observation places not many people know about? Best times to do certain things? Tips about certain crew? Tips about the casino? Any info you can give me would be great. Thanks Everyone!!!!!!! Jeff aka Recovery Dude

dcrobin Posted August 31, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2015 We did YTD. We had the most awesome waiter. Philemon. (like the Bible guy). He was fantastic. We asked for his section every night.
SadieN Posted August 31, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2015 If you're assigned the aft MDR, best to wait upstairs in the bar in front of the comedy lounge. From above you'll be able to see when the doors open and avoid the 'sardines' in the MDR elevator lobby.
SkyMaster Posted August 31, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2015 The BIG shows are just that,,,,,BIG SHOWS. They're excellent, so try not to miss 'em. Serenity Deck is kind of hidden, and it takes many folks a while to find it. Go early, and ENJOY. Food in the main dining room is very, very good. Service there is a bit slow on the first night, but gets better as the cruise goes on. RELAX, and enjoy! Casino will clean you out if you're not cautious. Slots will usually pay off just a bit on the first night or two, but then they clamp 'em down. Don't bother on the last evening, unless you can afford to lose. (Just my opinion, and experience.) ;) "SKY"
Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted August 31, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2015 We just got off last week! Must see 8 more seconds, and shout. Do not miss these! They are both one night only, 2 performances each. Do not miss the juggling act! It is done by the cruise director. Most entertaining juggling I have ever seen! This is only a 10 min show, so don't be late. Go to the welcome aboard show. It includes a sneak peak to 8 more seconds. Lots of fun. Towel animal theater is fun. If you have young kids, do the dr seuss breakfast Do the dr seuss storytime if you have kids, or if you don't have kids also
griz400 Posted August 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Pretty good old ship, pool is nice, but ladders tilt in at the bottom, but, the waterslide is faster than it looks :) also, comedy shows are a must see ... karaoke shows are real good (ask skymaster) .. he usually is a top 1 or 2 singer :) also .. the grille on the lido deck is kickin good - if you like grilled Rubens and the pizza place is right there as well, the will make you a calzone also .. there is a nice outdoor area, the door is right next to the pizza place at the aft of ship to eat outdoors ( secret) don't tell anyone .. also , there is a clock on the wall when you leave the ship to go to the ports, right as you are leaving the ship when you swipe your sign and sail card ... this will be ship time .. so set your watches .. wish all the ships had this clock ... pssssst John H.. "SKY" Ken You see the date we sailed, you and a guy from Europe somewhere,he had a strong accent, i talked to him and he said that he played in a band, he was there with his wife and son, you 2 just tore it up all week long, you also won something in the show one night, (was talent show of some sort i think), that cruise director also played the fiddle best i remember
SadieN Posted August 31, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Forgot to add The rotisserie is between the grill and the Mongolian Wok. There's always something being carved during lunch, different what's on the hot line. Sometimes it's lamb.
RecoveryDude Posted September 3, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted September 3, 2015 Does this ship have any "secret decks" --- Like observation areas all the way in front of ship that "most people" don't know about??? If so, how do I find them???? Any other tips for this ship specifically? I sail on her in 6 days!!! Thanks! Jeff aka Recovery Dude
bubbles4ever Posted September 3, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2015 If you must take the elevator take the ones midship or aft....the ones in the front of the ship are so slow and they skip over your floor alot of the time. I used the stairs most of the time and by the end of the trip my bad knee was feeling it.

I used the stairs most of the time and by the end of the trip my bad knee was feeling it. Unfortunately, the midship and aft elevators also skip floors, and are just as slow. When we were on it two weeks ago, there were 3 elevators out. At least in the front, you also have the two glass elevators to help ease congestion. Need to go up and down stairs to access it. The little decks aft of the buffet, above the Serenity deck are hidden. Not too many out there the first day or so. Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted September 4, 2015 #15 Share Posted September 4, 2015 In front of the glass wall by the mini golf course is a fun place to go. Very windy up there! Really nice at night
CharlesKru Posted September 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted September 4, 2015 Just off a few weeks ago. The "hidden" deck is not really hidden on this ship, just hard to get too. As people above have said, it is over the bridge. You can go out forward on the lido deck, so on lido, in the atrium area ( just a walk around to elevators) head left or right depending on side. Once outside walk forward, and then climb one flight of stairs. Stunning views at night, and the darkest place on the ship, so you get to see what is going on out there. If you like the Carnival beer, Thirsty Red Frog, then I recommend getting it from the aft Lido bar, Paris Bar. The reason being is they use the correct glass (plastic because on lido) which has 4 more oz that you are paying for even in the lobby.. The casino was ok, my mother in law did really good at the digital poker, and the rest of us so so at Craps and slots. Dont miss the taste bar, it is only open 5:30-8:30 on sea days ( and embarkation day). This used to be sushi, but is not 1 item from a specialty restaurant on the larger class ships... the meatballs from the Italian place are really really good. This is on Promenade deck, right outside the casino. Feel free to ask anything else, I am happy to answer.
