CELTICGIRLCRUISER Posted September 25, 2015 #26 Share Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) It is NOT the sanitizer. I have cruised for 14 nights and use the had sanitizer constantly. I have my nails done (using either OPI or ZORA with an OPI top coat) before I leave home and my nails look as good when I leave the ship as when I boarded. (My nails are a vanity point for me :o)I always use Hawaiian Tropic lotion type sunscreen (other brands and sprays I have found dull my nails). Sanitizer certainly CAN break down some polishes regular and gel. I am not just throwing an opinion around here but as a CND nail professional living in a sunny state I see it regularly especially amongst my health care professionals who use it all the time. Anything with alcohol can break it down, including sunscreen, bug spray, chlorine blah blah. I am also a LMT using hand sanitizer regularly and it does affect your nails with constant use. CowPrincess Posted September 25, 2015 #27 Share Posted September 25, 2015 I do my own nails pre-cruise usually using Revlon or Opi polish. Three coats of colour, two coats of top coat, and my polish is good for 14 days (barring any nasty incidents with my suitcase  ) And i use a lot of hand sanitizer.
