Anthem vs. NCL Breakaway Thanksgiving 2015

So, our extended family if 8 is traveling Thanksgiving week to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. So, two people 71 yrs old, myself and my husband mid-40s and my sister mid-40s with her 3 kids-16,8,5

 

Anthem pricing is now pretty close to what I paid for Breakaway. Only about $1000 more total for 3 cabins. We'd lose the free drink package NCL offers. But we'd gain an extra night- 8 nts on Anthem vs 7 on BA. Love that Anthem gas an indoor pool ( critical when leaving NY that time of year!) and the adult pool area looks gorgeous.

 

My biggest concerns are:1) teen/kids programming. Teen had a blast on BA last year- he loved that there was a lot to do and 24 hr food place where they could eat and hang out. Little kids loved the kids center staff and activities on BA too. 2) food- will dining be an issue on Anthem ( inread horror stories about Quantum). How will food quality compare?

 

Any insights much appreciated.

My kids did Breakaway and Quantum when they were both still 4 and 6. They enjoyed both kids clubs but I felt QoS had more for them to do, actually, given the weather in NY (non-summer). The indoor pool is fabulous and a major mistake on NCL's part, given they knew this ship needed to in cold climates sometimes. We all enjoyed the food very much on Q, more so than on BA. Plus, I always have thought RCI had better service than NCL. We have Anthem booked but don't plan to book BA again.

Yep. Anthem won. Dropped even more over the weekend and we made the switch. Prices were almost the same as the decent pricing I got onBA months ago. I just hope the teen likes it as much
