KSinSTL Posted September 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2015 I would imagine I would have no problem, but if I go to the casino with $50, will they give me $50 ones if I ask? Im trying to plan how much cash to carry, and it seems easier to get more singles on the ship than to carry a big bundle from the beginning. thanks! SuiteTraveler Posted September 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Probably. I am curious about what you want the ones for?
Demonyte Posted September 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Probably. I am curious about what you want the ones for? My guess would be to tipping. We too have a bundle of ones when travelling to US and/or going on cruises.

cliffd64 Posted September 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2015 You can certainly get change, but I'm guessing you might not get 50 all at once... might have to settle for 20 at a time I suspect...

clcjdn Posted September 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Actually they will give you a hard time.....direct you to guest services for that volume. At least that was my experience the last 2 times.....when cashing a ticket for a couple hundred bucks I would ask for my last $20 as a $10, a $5, and 5 $1's.....was basically like pulling teeth.....do they think I am going to "collect" all of "their" $1s.....and take them home with me? Now I usually just work with the server or bartender to come up with change rather than deal with that hassle......oh, and I start saving $1s a few weeks before I go so that I have a stack when I start...... I had the same thing happen to me in the casino on my last cruise and was told they were "only allowed" to give five ones at a time. There is a bill breaker machine near the cashiers but not sure if gives out singles. Tracy

phoenix1181 Posted September 15, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2015 It's not always convenient but it's best to bring what you think you'll need for cash with you. Guest Services & the Casino can be utilized for change but they really shouldn't be thought of as a bank. They will not always be able to accommodate you & the other few thousand guest onboard. Nola26 Posted September 15, 2015 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2015 Keep in mind you can only get change from casino cage while the casino is open. The machines will work all the time though. I never had an issue getting a few singles $5 at a time on the Getaway. You really won't need a big wad at once. If you really want that many bring $20 from home and be done with it. I only used my singles onboard to tip the casino servers and only because I had the House drink card. If I was drinking on the UBP you pay a service charge with the package so I wouldn't provide an additional tip when served.
asubaru Posted September 15, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2015 My last cruise there was a limit of 5, too. I took 25 onboard originally and ran out quickly..... too much tipping, I guess! To the person that said pay cash for a drink to get change, I don't think you can pay cash for anything onboard. (Yes, at Guest Services towards your bill is an exception)
Moby0215 Posted September 15, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 15, 2015 If the singles are for tipping when you get a drink etc, then couldn't you just put that on the receipt you sign for if you didn't have singles at that time? asubaru Posted September 15, 2015 #14 Share Posted September 15, 2015 I sure could, but I want the person serving to get it! I do not think they get the 18% and don't know if they would receive the $2-3 tip if I charged it. I can't be 100% certain but it's very likely that even when you tip in cash it goes into a communal tip jar that is split between all servers during a shift and not to the specific person you hand it to. Stillfloatin' Posted September 15, 2015 #16 Share Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Did a BTB on the Jade last month as CAS guests and getting tipping ones was a hassle in the casino. They would not give out more than $5 in ones at a time. I suggest you bring adequate amount and not depend on casino for change. They are very unhelpful. In the casino we always tip with one dollar chips. End of shift, the waiter goes to the cage on their way out and gets the cash, it works well.
