Athens - Which area to stay in????

plan on arriving 3-4 days before cruise. better to stay in city centre or Glyfada, or any other beach area and take transport to city????? Staying in city doesn't really sound appealing to me but I may be wrong - thoughts?? suggestions please.

My friend and I are both stay in the Plakka Area at the Plakka hotel. We will be there 2 nights pre-cruise

We stayed for 1 night after our cruise this year at http://poseidonhotel.com.gr which is a little bit nearer Athens than Glyfada, It was just around the corner from the tram stop that goes into the centre.

 

The hotel had 2 restaurants on the beach and the pool was nice too, I would say for €60 B&B was great value.

We didn't actually get the Tram as we left it too late to get to the Acropolis before sunset, the hotel booked us a taxi which was €15 including tip.

 

There are bars all alone the beach and a supermarket next to the hotel.

 

Breakfast was ok for the price especially as we had been Spoilt on the cruise.
