Getaway gift shops

Not sure of what your looking for. High end watches I find the prices to be around what I can buy them at a jeweler at home a little less because of the tax free maybe 10% less. Designer purses are not a deal on ship.

Now they do have cheap stuff 19.99 "sales" of jewelry sets watch and earing sets or watch and wallet sets. Think J C Penny or Sears kind of stuff that no one would look twice at home but on ship people line up 5 deep to get a "Deal"

Unless you are wanting to get gifts that say NCl or Getaway I think your better off Christmas shopping at home.

Shopping on island can be fun and so many more options from high end to cheap. We especially like Cariloha (bamboo stuff and the sheets are amazing)but now I know I can buy it online for less than in store.

Now if you want to give and are willing/able to lug it back home I would recommend Sheridan's. Its white chocolate and Coffee liquor that layers when you pour it. You can not buy it in the U.S. and it is AMAZING. I pack zip lock bags just so I can bring it home each trip.

On our last ship it sold out on day 1 because someone bought it all. The sales guy got me 2 bottles so now I know to buy it early on. They deliver it to your stateroom on the last night.

I assume you meant to buy the Sheridan's on ship? That sounds so good, will definitely try. I was really looking to pick up some Michael Kors bags and maybe a watch, I don't know the outlet stores at home may have better prices.

Do they have Getaway or NCL logo tee shirts, hats, etc? When we were on Pride of America they had absolutely nothing with a logo and no Christmas ornaments:(.

I'm curious about this, as well. Relatedly, I know on sume cruises logo/ship merch gets discounted late/on the last day of a cruise. Can anyone confirm if this is the case on Getaway?

My DH and I have just returned from a cruise on the Breakaway to Bermuda ( 9/13 sailing ) .

I was not impressed by the merchandise in the shops.

There was a very limited selection of Breakaway logo items ( t shirts, jackets etc.).

The fine jewelry looked very attractive, although I do not know if the pricing was competitive with port shops or home town jewelers.

They did have a selection of Michael Kors watches- again, not certain of the pricing.

We did not purchase anything on the ship.

However,we did purchase some gift items - a Bermuda print and some lovely bottles of cologne from the Carole Holding shop in the Dockyard Mall.

In the past,we have purchased gift items from the Glassworks which is also located in the Dockyard.

We found these items to be different and unique rather than designer items that can be purchased at any outlet mall at home.

Sailing on the Getaway 10/10/15 and hoping to do some Christmas shopping on board. Anyone recently returned and purchased anything like purses, watches, etc? Prices?

Thanks

I highly recommend the referenced $10 sale. It was a great way to pick up gifts and useful items. I bought an evening bag and a small casual purse that was perfect for use on ship since I wasn't carrying a wallet. Another popular item that I saw many people with were fun and attractive tote bags, saw a lot used on port days.

4 items @$10 and a 5th item free. These are fun inexpensive items, not designer, but nice and a way to say I was thinking of you. I also bought two absolutely cheap bags for friends that frequent casinos. You don't need a designer bag for that outing, but the size, colors and multi compartments work well.

There are wallets and really inexpensive watches in the pile too. The scene is like Christmas One Day sales at Macy's so you feel right in the Christmas way.

We also bought swimsuit cover ups, turned out it was really pretty on my mother.

Aside from that sale there are sales on nicer watches, gold by the inch and designer purses later in the cruise. There was also a 50% off rack in the gift shop. My mother grabbed a casual dress and I grabbed a classy cover for a friend who wears plus sized items.

Overall I found the jewelry to be too high end, fancy. I was actually looking for a simple casual ring, the one that would have worked was still black diamond, not something I really need in an everyday ring. Beautiful pieces, but range is an issue.

You can buy it on ship or on island price is always about the same.

You would be better off at a local outlet store for MK

About $20.00 I think it was 2 for $39.

Its not expensive, priced like Baileys. But the bottles are glass and heavy. We usually bring home 2 or 4 depending on the customs allowance.

They box it up good and we put them in ziplocks back in the box and then put dirty laundry around the box in a carry on size piece of luggage. Since we have to check it since its liquid. The case is always opened up by the TSA I think the separate sides make it look very suspicious.

I don't pay attention to jewelry on ships, but as far as makeup, perfume, bags, etc., I've always been able to find the items for much less money by shopping around on the internet, or even just checking Amazon. I think I once found a Clinique lipstick I use on a ship for 4 cents less than I pay at Macy's. Big whoop. Most of the makeup items are discontinued colors which can be found discounted at outlets.
