It happens. We had to can eliminate 3-4 weeks before a cruise due to medical reasons. As others have said, have your friends keep checking a couple of times a day.

I was unaware of credit cards covering like travel insurance. We have always purchased insurance. Can you tell me how that works, especially if you are making credit card payments up until cruise deadline.

 

I have a travel Visa card so it covers cancellation, interruption, lost baggage, car rental, medical etc. So when we had an illness we cancelled and had to submit all receipts and information from our doctor.

 

I never buy separate insurance because I have this card. It also accumulates points to spend on travel too.
