Love2cruisegirl Posted September 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Just returned from the RCCL/NOS (Western) on Saturday. If anyone has any questions (like I did before I went!), I'd be more than happy to try to answer them.:)
dyanna72 Posted September 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Just booked this same cruise for Nov of 2006. We are in room 7618 hump cabin w/balcony. What was the 'thing' not to miss during your days at sea? When do they do the parade in the promanade? Thanks, Dyanna
HebeJebe Posted September 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2005 How was the night life? I am going in Oct 2006.
Love2cruisegirl Posted September 28, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted September 28, 2005 dyanna-Our days at sea were terrific. On Sunday (1st sea day), not-to-miss items included "Mr. Sexy Legs Contest" at the pool (1:30pm). It was GREAT! There also was a "Men's Bellyflop Contest" immediately afterwards but it wasn't near the hit that Sexy Legs was. The main show for that night was the first chance to see The Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers. The show was pretty good-the Metropolis Theatre is huge! We really enjoyed singers Sandra & John. Also that night, comedian Carl Strong had a late (12:15am) show. IT WAS GREAT! Day 7 (Friday)-a pool volleyball tournament (if you like to play) w/shipshape bucks. Main show in Metropolis that night-we missed due to packing our suitcases. Parades on Promenade: Bon Voyage Parade Day 1 @ 11:15pm, Mardi Gras Parade Day 4 @ 11:30pm HebeJebe--------------- Nightlife..plenty to do. There is always late night adult shows, games (Battle of Sexes, etc.) and of course, the casino. The Dungeon has various nights of late dancing (club scene) going on-10:30pm and on is for adults only.

tivvy Posted September 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2005 I am leaving for my second trip aboard the NOS in three days (western) and I am wondering who the cruise director is? What port to you park at in Cozumel? Is the slide worth the $20 in Labadee? Thanks for the help!
Love2cruisegirl Posted September 28, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Tivvy, -The Cruise Director was Graham Seymour (very entertaining!) -In Cozumel, we docked at the International/Puerta Maya Pier-located 3 miles from town. Taxi area is crazy-just be prepared. -In Labadee, we just laid on the beach in the free chairs. Getting off the tender, my husband saw the huge inflatable 'ice bergs' in the water park area...he thought they looked fun. Considering the heat index was 105 degrees for that day, anything having to do with getting in the water would have been good. Special note: In our Labadee information from the ship (they give you a colored informational map in your stateroom for your day at Labadee), it had a special Safety Comment. "Please be aware that Labadee is part of a natural coral island. The rough coral is often difficult to detect, lying just below the sand. Proper footwear and caution is recommended." The first aide building was very close to us on the beach-I can tell you that in about a 10 minute time frame, 4 people visited there w/cuts & abrasions. We had water shoes on-no problems for us. Love2cruisegirl Posted September 28, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted September 28, 2005 I saw one couple in their wedding attire on the Promenade. I can't remember the exact day/time but they had been having some pictures taken. Can't say for sure if there weren't any others.
tivvy Posted September 28, 2005 #12 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Thanks for posting, I have been to labadee and yes you do need watershoes. We have already booked the excursion for the water park, we had a blast last time but it was a little difficult climbing in those shoes. Thanks Again

Love2cruisegirl Posted September 28, 2005 Author #14 Share Posted September 28, 2005 Hey Dan! Yea-it's been an immediate reality check with the kids/dog/out of town company for dinner the night after we got back. It's been wild! I'm keeping my cruising spirit (No problem mon!) by coming here to the boards. It was such a great trip! By the way, I emailed ShoreTrips in regards to the scuba. I found out after we got on the ship that night - RCCL had cancelled all scuba/snorkel excursions for the day due to water conditions from Hurricane Rita. Go figure... Love2cruisegirl Posted September 29, 2005 Author #15 Share Posted September 29, 2005 This is weird folks...I posted the last post yesterday but it never bumped the message back up to the top of the listing nor did it register that I had even posted. Strange... Any more questions for those of you going on the Navigator?
HebeJebe Posted September 29, 2005 #16 Share Posted September 29, 2005 What types of other activities are there to do on the days at sea? For example: On Disney there are cooking demonstrations, behind the scene tours, etc... What does RCCL offer for the non-gambling, non-sports inclined individuals? dyanna72 Posted September 29, 2005 #17 Share Posted September 29, 2005 How was the food in the Main Dining room? In order to keep costs low we are hoping to eat in there every night. Dyanna
mamax4 Posted September 29, 2005 #18 Share Posted September 29, 2005 Can you tell me about the entertainment onboard? Did you see the big shows and the comedians? I'm curious to see if the entertainers were as good on Nos as they were on the Explorer. Thanks for you attention.

Up in post#4 I listed some of the "Not to Miss" fun activities. Other activities include: First time cruiser's club & ship tour, various spa seminars, health classes, ice skating, digital camera seminar, juggling class, craft class, Champagne art preview, learn to play the keyboard/learn to skate classes, pub trivia, Art Auction, Wine appreciation hour/other wine activities, circus at sea, Screening Room movie, cooking class and much more! Love2cruisegirl Posted September 29, 2005 Author #21 Share Posted September 29, 2005 How was the food in the Main Dining room? In order to keep costs low we are hoping to eat in there every night. Dyanna Food on board as I'm sure you know is plentiful. We ate dinner every night in the dining room. We were assigned to the Swan Lake dining room/Deck 5. We found the food to be quite good. Sure, there were a couple of items that weren't what I would call 'fantastic' but overall the quality was excellent. If you don't like something-simply request something different from your waiter. The following is a summary: Saturday (set sail)-Casual attire; Bon Voyage dinner Sunday (at sea)-Formal attire; Captain's Gala dinner Monday-Casual or Country Attire; Venetian dinner Tuesday-Colorful/caribbean attire; Caribbean Colors dinner Wednesday-Formal attire; Chef's Dinner (Lobster night) Thursday-Casual or 50s-70s attire; Crown & Anchor dinner Friday (at sea)-Casual attire; Feast of Nations
cruizinbabe Posted September 29, 2005 #22 Share Posted September 29, 2005 We will be on the Naviagator in two weeks, and I was wondering about the Comedy shows. How would you rate the content. Clean, mildy vulgar, etc? I know that they are not for kids, but we are a group of conservative adults going, avoid R rated movies and try to avoid sexually explicit type material. How does the comedy stack up? Are we better off finding somehting else to do that time, or are we all in there just having some good clean fun? Also, as first time cruiser I have a few other quick questions. Do all of the rooms have a safe (we are in the cheapest inside staterromm.) Does every room have a phone in that you can call between cabins for free? Thanks
Love2cruisegirl Posted September 30, 2005 Author #23 Share Posted September 30, 2005 Mamax4 and Crruizinbabe- Here is a run-down of the entertainment that we had last week. Day1-Welcome Aboard Show w/guest stars Szabo Duo & Comedy of Carl Strong, the Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers [szabo Duo-interesting to watch, C.Strong very funny-this show OK for earlier crowd] Also, Family Welcome Aboard Show-intro to Adv.Ocean for families w/3-17 yr olds. Day2-'Now & Forever' w/the Royal Caribbean Singers & Dancers..a tribute to contemporary broadway. [Probably one of their best shows while on board] Late Night ADULT comedy w/Carl Strong - very adult oriented show. Funny but I would say at least PG-13 material due to some language, content, etc. Day 3-Ice Dancin' Show [Liked the 'hoops' girl the best of the whole show...didn't really like the show-though it was interesting to see how that # of people could skate on that small of a rink] Headliner Show-Ventriloquist Brad Cummings w/Jacqi Michaels (we missed this show & heard how GOOD it was!) Day4-Ice Dancin' Show (for those w/tickets for tonight) Other various entertainment things this night...no big 'RC Singers/Dancers show' Day5-All Access-The RC Singers & Dancers. (This show was OK...not my favorite of their performances but still worth seeing) Late Night comedy w/Graham Seymour (funny) Day6-Headliner Show starring Mark Preston (former member of 'The Letterman')-good Day7-Final RC Singers & Dancers show/Comedy included- Overall, we saw some of the shows, did go to late night comedy & then mixed in some of the other nightly offering of activities (Love & Marriage game was SOOO FUNNY!!). If you do miss a show (which everyone at our dinner table seemed to manage to do sometime during the trip), they do a telecast on your cabin TV so you can watch what you missed. Any more questions? Candleonwater Posted September 30, 2005 #24 Share Posted September 30, 2005 Just booked NOS for spring break... stressing out MAJORLY about the decision. Can't even tell you why! After having a PR cabin, then a balcony on the Mariner, we've gone back to a PR cabin (at my daughters insistence). For any of you who might have been on the Mariner as well... how do they compare?
vacationbound Posted September 30, 2005 #25 Share Posted September 30, 2005 Hi....we've sailed on both Mariner and Navigator. They are so similar except for the decor. Mariner is a bit more "out there", but both offer exactly the same things. We are booked again on the Navigator simply because of dates and itinerary. We also sailed Serenade in between the two others. Serenade is definitely MY favorite....southern itinerary and lots of islands...I also like the smaller atmosphere and the ship is gorgeous!....That said, our daughter, 16yo, enjoyed both, but missed the number of teens on the bigger ships. She'll be going off to college in 2 years so we'll try the larger ship again for Spring break. By the way, we were on Spring break for all our cruises and have never had a problem with teens. They know how to find their own areas and avoid the adults. It was the smaller children that were out of control....pushing elevator buttons, roaming hallways ringing doorbells, sitting on stairways, swimming in the adults only pool....etc. None of that really bothers me, but I don't like it when teens get bashed.....there are some great teens out there!
