momof3cruisers Posted October 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2015 I have read a lot about the lines and crowds for the comedy shows. We're sailing on the Breeze in Jan with our kids. I am wondering if the lines are bad for the non R rated comedy times as well. Hoping others have noticed so we can be prepared on what to expect. BIGA961 Posted October 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2015 We went on our first family cruise last October on the Glory, and the room was generally full, but not far in advance. We generally got there about 10 minutes before the show and we never had a problem getting a seat. I'd guess with it being family oriented, and thus early, the crowds weren't as crazy. This was one of our family's favorite things about the cruise, I hope you love it!
Who Cares? Posted October 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) We always take early dining. Would finish about 7:10 to 7:15 and walk right in and would find seats for the 7:30 family show. Was never a problem on the Sunshine. Lines would be for the later shows. Would assume to be the same for the Breeze. Edited October 20, 2015 by Who Cares?
HawkIVette Posted October 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Same as others posted here. Family shows are usually not a problem. But long lines start at the adult shows after 10:30.
love my grandkids Posted October 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2015 For the 7 30 and 8 30 family shows you can walk right on. Lots of empty seats
chrislo Posted October 20, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Occasionaly we have had to be flexible with our seating for the 8:30 show. This means not always having the best view or sharing tables with other people.
jamscckmc Posted October 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2015 We never had a problem on the Pride in May or September getting a seat a few minutes before the family shows. Might be more of an issue when there are many children on board like in the summer or holiday breaks. Does anyone know if on the bigger ships the comedy club is larger than on the smaller ships? momof3cruisers Posted October 20, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Great. Thanks for all the feedback. That's how it was a few years ago on our cruise on the Ecstacy so I was wondering if it had changed. Def one of our favorite things to do.
ladygal4.4 Posted October 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Depending in the age of your kids, they may not get the jokes. While they're not "R" rated, there's a definite maturity issue to understand them. I don't think my 11 year old would get half of them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While on the Sunshine, we had a female comic who brought kids up on the stage and did about a third of her routine as strictly jokes for kids. Thought it was rather nice of her. love my grandkids Posted October 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Some relate very well to kids and others will pretty much ignore them. Have seen kids understand the jokes and others have no clue what he is talking about.

Agree, it totally depends on the comedian! We were chatting with a comedian on Fantasy who told us doing the Family Shows were the most hardest by far. He really worked at it and was good at finding material that would actually be funny to his younger audience. :)
