Future cruise credit

Has anyone who has purchased a fcc onboard used the $100 obc in the casino? I spoke with a NCL rep today and he said you can use it in the casino but the whole $100 has to be used on the machine that you put it in..in other words you can't cash out of a machine and move to another one and still use the credit balance. Has anyone done this? Thank you

That's nonsense. You can do whatever you want with the OBC (except DSC), including play in the casino. You can cash out, move to another machine, or leave at any time.

They used to have a deal where if you used it in the casino they would give you $125 instead of just the $100 - but I still think you were able to switch machines, etc. Any promo credits I have been issued like that were attached to my players card & they gave you an instruction sheet on how to access. You could absolutely cash out on a machine but the credits would go back to your card. Also, any of those promo credits, you are able to download flat amounts on to the machine so if you had say a $25 credit, you could just set the machine to grab $5.

Maybe they consider this different since it's coming from the fcc purchase? Did anyone actually use that type of credit on the casino?

It's just NCL OBC applied to your account. There is no "this type" oF OBC. There is nothing special or unusual about it.

You can take your $100 OBC and get $125 to use in the casino. That $125 promo credits would have to be played before you would be able to cash out. That being said, you could surely just choose to put let's say $20 of credits onto a machine and after you played the $20 in credits if you had won anything then you would be able to cash that out and move to a different machine.

Yes, be careful with this. I have ran into this issue in other casinos. I did not have this issue on board as we didn't use an OBC for casino play.

 

Here is what I've run into:

 

- If you have $100 in "slot play" or "bonus slot play" and you put $100 onto 1 machine, you have to play the full $100 before you cash out OR you will not get it back. Just to emphasis, I am NOT sure if that's how it is on NCL but this has been my experience elsewhere.

 

- Example: Let's say you put $100 of slot play into a machine. You take one bet at $1.00 a hit. That would bring your balance down to $99.00. On that hit, you win $100. If you wanted to cash out, you would only take the winnings ($100) with you. The remaining $99 would be lost forever. :eek:

 

Just fair warning - I am in agreement with the other posters, take $20 out at a time or even $5 depending on how you bet. Just to be on the safe side.

Just to clarify what bingoslots said, the remaining $99 would not be lost forever, you just need to continue playing it. They are not gonna let you just hit cash out and turn the promo money into real cash if they have not had a chance for you to lose it.

If you don't get the $125 for the $100 OBC, just use the OBC to pay for the FCC credit. You actually don't have to spend it on anything. It just makes the FCC $100 less expensive. That is probably the best use of the OBC.

This may be a dumb question, but here goes. Are the quarter pusher machines (not sure of the name of them but they are the ones where you try to get bills to drop by having quarters or tokens continuously dropping) considered slot machines?

One thing I learned the hard way on my last cruise... I did the 125 slot credit deal but it did NOT work on all slot machines. I had wanted to use it on my favorite Dragon bonus slot but it did not work for that machine. I asked the casino host what was wrong and he told me it only works on some, not all. Best to make sure the machines you want to use work before going this route.

They are not slot machines in the sense that you don't use your card in them.

The Star had a machine that you did use your sea pass card. It took off 5 dollars each time inserted. Then it gave 5 dollars in tokens to be played. I guess what I'm asking is are these equivalent to playing slots when it comes to accumulating casino play for extra perks?

Can you tell me the process to turn the $100 OBC into $125 at the casino? And you don't have any problem downloading $5 or $10 or whatever into separate machines?

After you submit the form for the future cruise certificate to the cruise consultant desk they will give you a voucher that you take to the casino desk. And no there should be no problem using smaller denominations in multiple machines.

I don't understand this. I just purchased two CruiseNext certificates a few weeks ago. There was no voucher or any paper associated with the OBC at all. The OBC was simply applied to my account... :confused:

This question comes up all the time and despite what NCL or anyone wants to spin it, the $100 OBC is "spent" almost the same second you purchase the FCC.

If you look at your account when you do this, it will appear something like this:

Charge $250 Future Cruise Credit

OBC $100

Total Charge $150

The hundred bucks is gone moments after the purchase. You can then justify spending the extra hundred bucks if you want but the "real" value in the purchase of FCC's is when you take your next cruise and use the $250 towards the cruise. The FCC only cost $150.
