Future cruise credit

This question comes up all the time and despite what NCL or anyone wants to spin it, the $100 OBC is "spent" almost the same second you purchase the FCC.

If you look at your account when you do this, it will appear something like this:

Charge $250 Future Cruise Credit

OBC $100

Total Charge $150

The hundred bucks is gone moments after the purchase. You can then justify spending the extra hundred bucks if you want but the "real" value in the purchase of FCC's is when you take your next cruise and use the $250 towards the cruise. The FCC only cost $150.

Yes you are right, you are paying $150 for something of $250 value so it is a no brainer if you already plan to take another cruise. The OP had asked about the FCC/Casino deal in which there is added value for people who would be spending money in the casino anyway.

The Star had a machine that you did use your sea pass card. It took off 5 dollars each time inserted. Then it gave 5 dollars in tokens to be played. I guess what I'm asking is are these equivalent to playing slots when it comes to accumulating casino play for extra perks?

No.

Nothing extra in the casino as they will only give you one voucher redeemable in the casino.
But if I ask for just one voucher for the $125 OBC corresponding to one CN deposit, I won't get any additional value for playing it in the casino? So this offer only works if you start out with $100 OBC? (Or you don't know, because you didn't get two CN deposits, or ask about it?)

You should still be able to get the $125 casino play from $100 OBC even if you buy 2 CN certificates. I did not buy two certs but the cruise consultant surely was trying to get me to buy two and said that's how it would work. So basically you still wind up ahead $25. This is however based only on verbal conversation so take that for what it is worth.

We seem to be missing something here. If you buy two certificates, the OBC is automatically increased to $125 per certificate, without going to the casino. I am just wondering if you can take that to the casino and turn it into $150 of slot play or something like that.

From what the cruise consultant told me, after purchasing the cert(s), you go to the casino and tell them you want the $125 promo, the casino will then deduct $100 from your onboard account and deposit $125 into you casino account. So it shouldn't matter if you actually received $250 "credit" from purchasing 2 certs.

OK but in the miraculous event that we spend nothing, can that OBC be cashed out at the end of the cruise ? CruiseNext T&C say nothing about this.

In the past, the OBC we have received has been listed as non-refundable. Normally it doesn't matter, because even if you have no other purchases, you still to pay for the $250 future cruise deposit from your shipboard account, so that will use up your $100 OBC.

However, I think if you had a cash account with exactly $250 in it, for example, you would pay for the CN deposit with that, and your account would end up with just the $100 non-refundable OBC. Which you cannot cash out. (Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong here, I actually have no experience with cash accounts or with left-over OBC… :p)

There is another possibility for this OBC (I have not done this myself, either), which is to ask at the casino to have it turned into $125 of slot play. You cannot cash this out directly, you have to play it, but then you can cash out whatever amount it turns into after that.

I'm not a gambler to use OBC in there but would like to cruise again. If I only bought a FFC would my final bill come to $150 ? Do you have to spend the $100 OBC on the cruise?

There is no obc to cash out from the fcc

The bottom line is they are only charging you $150. Which you pay.

Your final bill is $150

There really is no obc as the cost of the FCC is in actuality only $150 but gives you a benefit of $250.

Ncl likes it though when pax buy a fcc and then think they have $100 obc to use and then go to a specialty or book an excursion. Lol Of course they could just say the cost of the FCC is $150 but then you wouldnt spend the fake obc they want you to think you just received would you? Lol

That is the Ncl marketing strategy btw and the Fcc salesperson will definitely keep telling you ....now you have $100 obc to spend

That said the fcc is a great deal regardless. However I'm not so sure about the new cruise next deal as I'm not prepared to book while still on the cruise and the freebies arent really free anyway. We shall see though on my nan cruise if I buy one or not.

thank you for explaining it that way now I understand and will be buying one.

I had one before and had no choice but to come back and use it

so glad I did the prices are good on the ships I sail with the UBP. Thinking about sailing breakaway next winter out of NY for two weeks. A little nervous of such a big ship.

If you buy two, you get $125 back instead of $100 per deposit. They are good for 4 years, and they are fully transferable if you want to give/sell them to someone else. This is pretty much the best deal on board!
