Photo Review - Celebrity Summit Oct 24th - Oct 31st, 2015

About disembarkation: It went smoothly. We were off the ship around 9 (our choice) and at the airport by 10am for a noon flight. Outside the terminal there are a lot of people milling about... people waiting for other members of their party to come through, waiting for ride pick-ups, waiting for the airport transfer shuttles.... so locating the actual taxi cab line can be a little challenging - especially if you've got heavy bags in tow. But there is a taxi line and a dispatcher - guiding folks to cabs and handing you a written quote for the cost of the ride.

Tip: At the San Juan airport, don't forget to get your bags tagged at the fruit inspection checkpoint before checking them with your airline. Signage isn't very clear that you have to do this. And, at JetBlue at least, they weren't accepting uninspected baggage for check-in. We saw more than a few people have to suffer through the long baggage drop-off lines, TWICE, because they hadn't gotten their bags fruit-inspected first. So be sure to look for the fruit inspection station when you enter the airline terminal.

Have fun on your upcoming Celebrity Summit cruises!

Mrs. Winks and I will be back in late January with a whole new adventure detailing our exploits on the Mexican Riviera on a Princess cruise.

Thanks for the entertaining and informative review! We will be on the Summit in less than 10 days and are looking forward to it.

Could you please tell me when did you clear customs on your way back? Was it in San Juan or in St. Thomas? We plan to take the ferry to St. John, but if we have to clear customs in St. Thomas then we will be delayed getting off the ship so will need to make alternative plans.

Thanks,

Rada

US Customs and Immigration took place at disembarkation in San Juan. There was no such procedure in St. Thomas (We've never had to do it there during a cruise stop). So you should be good to just get off the ship in Charlotte Amalie.

We've only had to deal with the double immigration hassle once - when our ship ported in Key West, FL and everyone had to go through immigration then - and the next day at our disembarkation in Port Everglades.

Thank you for the great review.

I appreciate your sharing since this is the first time Summit sailed this itinerary and some of the ports like Martinique aren't regular stops.

I didn't see the Day 5 Celebrity Today posted for Dominica. Did I miss it?

What an oversight! Thanks for catching that.

Thanks so much for the great review. We will be on this exact cruise in January and I was so surprised to find such an extensive and fun to read review! Greatly enjoyed your humor and writing style.

Thanks again - hope your January trip is fabulous.

It was fun reliving the cruise through your review. Everything was great except the reminder of that horrible rain storm in Tortola. We thought we'd die in the cab and never make it back for dinner. God forbid we should miss a meal.

Too bad you didn't show off your cabin on the crawl. At least we got to see some pics in your review

Just wanted to add my thanks for taking the time to write this review! We were on this cruise and it was really great to re-live some similar experiences and also to experience vicariously what you did in the various ports!

Your writing style made this review a pleasure to read and I wish you and Mrs. Winks many more happy cruising days and hope to read all about your future adventures!

PS - I managed to lose my Celebrity Today for Dominica and didn't realize it until we were organizing our photos/scans from our trip. I asked for help in finding someone who may have a scan of it in addition to the menus from one night that I was also missing. Had some really helpful people respond on the menus and now see your scan from Dominica! So double thanks for the review and the scan of the Dominica daily!

Right?? I really thought we were going to drown in Tortola... in the rain.

Though I'm sure I had read pre-cruise in the Roll Call that someone had offered up an aft cabin - so figured there was no need for us to. But that didn't end up happening. Oh well. It really is a unique stateroom. The balcony's almost the size of the interior cabin!

I totally hear you. Keeping the daily papers and other interesting ship notices intact and pristine throughout the cruise - and up until scanning time - is actually one of THEEEE biggest challenges in all review writing! :)
