sylver Posted September 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2005 I sailed on the Century this past August for a 13 night European sailing. Having read many posts on the ship, I was worried about the condition of the ship and how enjoyable my cruise would be. In my opinion the ship was in excellent condition for 10 years old and will be refurbished soon. The biggest signs of wear and tear were in the staterooms (lots of dings and marks in the walls from luggage and the bathroom, the sink was badly stained) but nothing to worry about. The ship was clean, the food was excellent and the service was amazing.

I know we have heard a few negative comments on the boards, but there have also been a tremendous amount of favorable comments as well. For some odd reason, there are some out there, who like to pick on Century. I am happy that you had a great time. I am sure once the renovations are done next year, that Celebrity will make a great ship, even better ! Do you happen to recall if Allan King is the Cruise Director ? I am sailing on Century again in about 6 weeks. She is one of my favorites in Celebrity's fleet.
sylver Posted September 30, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 30, 2005 I am sorry to report to you that Allan King was not the cruise director. When I was onboard, the cruise director was Francois Chavy, he was pretty good. The best one I've ever had was actually on a Carnival cruise back in 1997, John Heald (sp?) Thanks for letting me know. Allan is a great Cruise director, and I hope he will be back on Century in November.
