My Time and Low Sodium

Contact special_needs@rccl.com prior to the cruise for dietary restrictions.

Bob is correct, I contact the special needs department for each cruise. He supplied the correct email address to contact them.

On the first day I strongly recommend to go and see the maître d' in the dinning room that you are assigned and tell him or she about your diet restrictions. I would find out what time they will be available. I always had to preorder my meals the night before while at dinner, they would bring me the next days dinner menu to select from. Sometimes they did not know about my diet restrictions and you can possibly go over that nights meal.

...or a low sodium diet in the main dining room for that matter?

I had to request a salt free menu from my 2nd night on freedom in September it was my first cruise and I'm usually ok dining out in restaurants at home so didn't foresee a problem till I tried my dinner the first night only to find it poisoned with salt I just asked my waited would it be possible to get a salt free menu which it was I got my menu given to me the night before at dinner and made my choices the salt free food was lovely

We have my time dining for the first time on our upcoming cruise. We try to eat a low salt diet, by necessity for D and by choice for L. Does anyone have experience with how a special diet request works with MTD?

We did MTD on our last trip on FOS and my wife has a pretty sensitive gluten allergy. On our first night in the MDR we told the waiter about her allergy. He spoke to one of the chefs and then gave us several options they could do for that nights dinner. Then at the end of dinner each night she received a copy of the menu for the next night and could pre-order her food and they would make sure to have it prepared for her as a gluten free item. The waiter handled it like it is just a normal procedure they have in place to handle people's dietary needs.

I decided to try the low sodium diet for the first time on my September cruise aboard the Jewel of the Seas and I'm glad that I did. We had My Time dining and it worked out very well for me. On RCCL's website, I just selected low sodium diet on my cruise profile for this reservation. I never thought to send an e-mail to RCCL with my special dining request and it was no problem.

On the first night, I spoke to my waiter about my request. The maître-d then visited my table each night with the menu for the following evening so that I could pre-order for the next night. In the past, I had always hesitated to try the low sodium diet because I was afraid that the food would taste bland. The food was very tasty and I will continue to order a low sodium diet for future cruises.
