Cruisechick82 Posted October 1, 2005 #27 Share Posted October 1, 2005 If they had seas like those during this episode they could have just done the stop, drop and roll routine. That is even scarier than the rough waves! When did this happen?

cruizinmimi Posted October 4, 2005 #34 Share Posted October 4, 2005 Those pics are amazing. We were on the Rhapsody coming back to Galveston and trying to outrun Hurricane Isadore and thank goodness I couldn't see outside. It was 10pm and dark and the Captain would not allow anyone outside. It lasted until 4am in the morning. We were definitely rocking and rolling. Captain said the swells were 20 ft. Keep cruising everyone Linda
KMBB Posted October 4, 2005 #35 Share Posted October 4, 2005 Futaba 951-- Hey, I was on the Ecstasy when this happened. It was July 20th, 98, we were celebrating our 20th anniversay with our first cruise. Leaving Miami, the fire started in the laundry before we set sail, but we sailed off anyway and it got worst very quickly.(cruise ship firefighters could not keep up with it) The captain of the ship was trying to get into international waters so that coast guard could not interfere. Did not happen, the coast guard had to order the captain of the ship to stop(this has not happen in 20 years that a captain had to be order to stop the ship) We were very glad to have not gotten in international waters--the coast guard could not have assisted with the resue at that time. Needless to say our cruise was ruin and our annivarsary was a bummer, but we were Ok and on one was hurt on board. Took along time to get back to port(we had to be towed, we were only 2 miles out of port) Lots of confusion about how we would get home and when we would get our luggage. We spended 3 days in a hotel with only the chothes on our backs--not fun!!!! Our luggage was not damage, but many peoples who had rooms at the back of the ship(yes those great aft cabins) were ruined. Carnival gave us a "free" cruise credit to cruise again, but we lost our air fare money and my husband only vacation that year. We did cruise again(after ALOT of hassle from Carnival)the following July. We now cruise Royal Caribbean, and don't know if we will cruise Carnival again. Anyone else on this cruise????
