Staggered Check In Being Implemented For Carnival

I'm heading out on the Magic on 11/29 and just received an email about a new pilot program being tested on Carnival lines out of Galveston (text below). When checking in online, you have to select a window of time in which you plan to arrive. I believe it's in half-hour increments. Supposedly, if you arrive sooner than your scheduled time, they will send you away; however, if you arrive later than your scheduled time, they will accommodate you. They will only allow so many "reservations" per time slot.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

CARNIVAL MAGIC

November 12, 2015

Dear Fun Seekers!

Your Fun Ship cruise is just around the corner. If you have not already done so, we'd like to remind you to complete your Online Check-In and/or select a check-in window.

A check-in window must be selected or one will be automatically assigned to you. This means you will not be able to access the terminal to check-in any earlier than your assigned time and will be asked to return at your specified time. We are sorry, but this will be strictly enforced.

Please visit us at http://www.carnival.com/OnlineCheckIn, as soon as possible.

Once your Online Check-In process has been completed, print your boarding pass (which includes your check-in window) or bring the one automatically emailed to you, the morning of departure, on your mobile device.

Guests who are part of our Priority Program (Diamond, Platinum and suites), have purchased transfers with Carnival or "Faster to the Fun" must still select a window online, but are invited to come at the time of their choice.

For more information on this new process, please visit us at https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3180/kw/staggered.

Please remember you must check-in at the terminal no later than 60 minutes prior to the ship's departure and make sure to bring your proof of citizenship with you.

We can't wait to see you!

Sincerely,

Arlene Marichal

It's been reported on the Carnival board as well as roll calls that this staggered boarding IS being implemented. If you show up early you will be escorted to a waiting area until your time is called-no exceptions. If you have a late time, best to sleep in and enjoy a relaxing breakfast(and maybe lunch) before heading over.

cruzkitty: we stayed at the St Louis resort and LOVED it. Great rooms, views, service, food, and the pool was amazing. Has a swim up bar, adult only area, hot tub, and water slide that both kids and adults enjoyed.
