Great and very helpful review! I started it a day or so ago, I'm at page 11. My index finger got numb, so will finish later. :) Lots of great pics, hope that the food is not as greasy as it appears to be. Thanks for posting it, I'm enjoying it a lot!

Thanks. Lol. Yes, it is long. The fried food was really greasy, but the rest was fine.

Looking most forward to Dr. E on the Magic. We had Jen Baxter on the Freedom. She was o.k. And Chris "Donkey" Salazar on the Sunshine this year. He was pretty good!

I would book a cruise on any boat, solely on the fact that she would be the CD. :D

We've sailed with her I think three times now and we just absolutely freaking love her.

In fact..maybe it's just me..but I've found that I prefer British CDs to American ones. Maybe our upcoming cruise with Malcolm will change that, but the British CDs just seemed like they were more fun than the one American we had (Kirk Benning). He was fine..just not nearly as fun as the British CDs.

Nothing really against Jen. Loved her quirky outfits. Just didn't wow me. I probably like male CDs better in general. Lol.

All but two of the CDs we've sailed with have been male--Jen and this other woman who I think was Canadian (???) who was filling in for a CD on our last cruise. She was actually like an asst CD (and I think now she's a real CD) and she just seemed very..touch me not. Like, "OMG. Passengers. And I have to interact with them? Gross." I can't remember her name right now, but I know I've seen her listed as the CD on the current lineup of CDs on JH's blog.

Jen on the Freedom out of Ft Lauderdale was great. If you are truly into dancing the Freedom lacks there. We are ballroom dancers and except for the Motown nights there isn't much. The disco is Ok for free style hip hop. The Habana bar plays no salsa or cha Chas or Rumba. So dancing is limited. The Sunshine had a much better dance venue

Geesh. How can you be a CD but not a people person. I really think Jen is the only female CD I've ever cruised with. Or at least the only one I remember. I honestly didn't give the CD a second thought until I joined this board!

I'm so excited! First time for all of us on a Dream class ship. Big group going although a few flakes have already backed out. Their loss. I told everyone that my family will be going whether all or none of them go. Lol.

We only know the Dream class, and I can tell you, the Magic is a beautiful ship. I know you'll have a great time, enjoy!

Beats me.

Oh I found her, btw..her name is Dee Brandon. She's on the Magic for a week in December. She and the asst CD she had seemed *waaay* too into each other. Like..way more than besties.

I can tell you FOR SURE that the two port days there was NO COMEDY SHOW. Not even a late night one and the broadway show was off one of those nights as well. This was a five day cruise. People on board the freedom who had sailed the magic preferred it. I have never sailed the magic.

"There r shows every night and a late night comedy show. " this was not true for us.

Port days I really didn't pay attention to activities because we got off the ship. The piano bar was great but this was Tony's last time on the Magic. DK who will be the piano guy now.

the person that said if you like to dance it is lacking is kind of right. but lots of people danced outside the casino in that band area and no one cared.

Malcolm was our cruise director and he was sooo funny. I thought the food was good and staff was nice and very accommodating. Only rude staff person we ever encountered was the "manager" of the comedy club who also DJ'd some nights, fluffy or something like that? I just figured she was having a bad day. They seem to work them like dogs these days and they wear many hats all day long.

Sometimes I research too much. I may have my ships mixed up, if so, sorry. What I remember from the Magic, the dance club was small, and not many places to sit. Everyone seemed to just be standing around or dancing. I thought I saw that the Freedom has a 70's, 80's, music club, with over 100 tables or seats that many, don't remember. That would suit us as don't care that much about dancing, but would like to listen to that type of music, while sitting at a table. Not a deal breaker as we have already booked, but would be nice to know before, so no surprises. Thanks in advance for any info.

The music and dancing is combined in the casino. You can sit at the bar or some tables around the band. You will have to deal with the cigarette smoke. If you go to the Habana Bar you can sit and listen to Latin music. There is the Atrium bar that you can sit and listen and the piano bar also for listening

Thank you. Little disappointing. Wonder where I got the idea that they had a 70's, 80's music venue? Oh, well, just another senior moment, I guess.

There was some in the disco where you can sit. They were big on Motown. Also there is music in the Red Frog Pub. I'm sure you will find your place somewhere Hit the alchemy bar. Then all music sounds good. Our disappointment was the lack of dance floor. Dancing on marble flirts is hard and having people walking past you is not easy

We were on the Freedom in 2013 and spent all but one night in the Atrium where the duo playing kept the place packed. Dancing to all types of music and drinking our favorite drinks. That was one of the best dancing areas on that cruise.
We have sailed 3X on the Triumph, but now Freedom is out of Galveston. We are booked for 1-30-16. How does the Freedom and Triumph experiences compare? I know Triumph is a bit larger, but thats all.
Freedom is a little bit larger than Triumph, and if you compare their deck plans they are nearly identical in lay-out, with Freedom having a few things that Triumph doesn't have.
