as a gold member what do you get extra? anything?

Not too much. Gold members receive an invitation to the Captain's Circle party. You also get a gold sign and sail card (adults only), and a gold name tag on your cabin. There was a "welcome back" note in the cabin with a destination sticker.

The "Princess Passport" is a booklet that loosely resembles a passport and has blank pages for placing your destination stickers.

After your first cruise with Princess in addition to your welcome back greeting you get a destination sticker or stamp which has a picture related to the area you are cruising; the name of the ship; and the signature of the captain.

I go platinum with the next cruise but I have found they are giving me better upgrades the more cruises I take. Also, don't forget to ask for the robes for your room. Mostly, you get a free drink on Captain's circle night.
