sport on board the Auroa

Aurora was one of the better ships for deck sports ( or at least it was last time we were on Sept 2014). There was organised tennis (i.e. an Ents officer sorts teams & keeps score etc) games a.m. The court is a reasonable size. Racquets in one piece. Balls may be folic ally challenged ( but claim your a select passenger & state that you didn't pay £X to play with bald tennis balls ). We had great fun & met a nice crowd. You must wear sports shoes. The nearest drop of rain on the court will bring about 'rain stop play. Table tennis tournaments are organised am. Two tables in the covered swimming pool area ( high up so you often send balls down into the pool area). Again great fun & a good crowd. There were deck quoits tournanents 10:30 & 2:30. Well attended & good fun ( for most ( although some can't avoid being the quoits equivalent if Dickie Bird for other peoples' games ;-). ). There is usually small football & every afternoon there is deck cricket. Obviously some of these overlap so you have to choose. We usually managed tennis, quoits (. & if knocked out in an early round of quoits then table tennis) Some days we missed quoits & did table tennis)

Having said all of this, it may have all changed! We were on Azura Sept 2015 & apart from quoits & shuffleboard a.m & cricket pm all games were 'social' I.e sort 'em out yourselves. Consequently few got involved & they were a bit of a disaster. ( I forgot to mention Shuffleboard was available am & pm as a competition on Aurora.)

We enjoy the sports & they are much better on longer voyages ( with more sea days)

Have a great time.

P.s. Sadly deck tennis ( with a rubber ring & a 5 foot high net) is no longer played...too risky?
