Many times the remote is a generic one that doesn't control all the features . You could ask your room steward for a full function remote if they are aviable.

We did this just off the equinox last week. You need standard media player and HDMI cable. The only requirement is notify IT person on board and he can switch TV remotely. However you need the mention, full service remote in room to hit the HDMI button.
