I'm aware I was telling you not to visit Klis fortress because it was so neglected. It's time now to tell you acctually to visit Klis fortress, things have been changed, it's cleaned and organised, they are showing pirate games and fights and by the next summer there will be somo holographic presentations and a lot of things that I couldn't even imagine a couple of years ago.

 

So yes, I can reccommend visiting Klis fortress from the bottom of my heart. :)

 

Also, Ancient Salona was and allways is (still not enough) presented and valued world heritage.

 

So, a lot to see. Welcome! :D

We have a day in Split next September. Can you recommend a nice day in Split? I only have planned to visit Diocletian's palace. Thanks, Ken.

Please consider to have a walking tour with a guide. It's usually unexpensive and our guides are very good, they are probably history professors trying to make some extra money during the summer. I just watched the popular vlog and I was completely saddened by ignorance of these people. It,s ok that they didn,t took a guide, but they didn,t have any brochure or anything. This is the worst way to visit Split I can immagine. See it here:

 

Also, I would like to tell you to put Split as a primary place to visit. Than you can go around to visit Trogor, Salona, Klis or islands. I can't believe some people come to Split and avoid it completely. Strange. Downtown Split is the palace, and it's the most preserved Roman heritage in the World (because people NEVER left the palace, for 17 centuries).

 

So, when you come to Split, first find your walking tour which takes about 2 hours. If youvsuccesfully planned your tour towards thebend of your time in Split, you'll find enough time to visitvsome of the surroundings.
