CruznFam704 Posted December 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I plan to buy the wifi package if I'm able to call home using the Viber App. I was wondering if anyone was able to make any calls or texts this way. Thanks.
LrgPizza Posted December 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I have not used Viber, but on Escape I was able to call home via ship's wifi using the voice call feature of Facebook Messenger app and also using the voice call feature of Facetime on my iPhone. CruznFam704 Posted December 4, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I have to call my cousin from Sydney, Australia daily and it's just much easier to use Viber to call her. I'll try the Facetime then. Thanks.

Thanks. The voice call through the Facebook Messenger app probably worked the best. All the way from England across the ocean to the US it sounded like my son was in the room with us every time we spoke to him. We only did the Facetime audio a couple times for a family member who isn't on Facebook. We also did Facetime video a couple times, and it worked fine. We had unlimited wifi. paulh84 Posted December 4, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2015 The call quality on the Facebook app is great. Noticibly better than a FaceTime voice call from my experience.

Was the unlimited wifi $29/day or did they have a package for the whole cruise?
Demonyte Posted December 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 4, 2015 Was the unlimited wifi $29/day or did they have a package for the whole cruise? With NCL the pricing is always day based but you need to purchase for the entire cruise. LrgPizza Posted December 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 4, 2015 Was the unlimited wifi $29/day or did they have a package for the whole cruise? $29 per day for each day of the cruise. We bought it in advance which saved just a few bucks "activation fee" or something like that.

Demonyte Posted December 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2015 is wifi pretty decent- does it work well in cabin /all over ship? Yes, the WiFi networks is decent and should work just about everywhere - it's the satellite uplink that is the bottle neck and that depends on how many other passengers are using it etc.
