nealstuber Posted December 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2015 New to Princess, basically have only sailed CCL and RCCL in the past 5 years. On CCL, the machines were paperless, you set up a casino account at your first machine, could draw from your sail and sign account (at no extra charge) and get a voucher to cash out any time you wanted. RCCL, was more like most modern land based casinos. Cash in to start and then a voucher when you cashed out. We usually just play the machines and are wondering if we need to take cash for this or can charge it to the room with no commission fee.
robbi5 Posted December 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2015 Hello You can use your room card or put in cash and your winnings will go on your account via your card. You decide how much you want to play with on a given machine and then transfer the amount back to your account. You can cash it out at the cashier. If you forget to cash out or transfer your money back to your account, they'll call your stateroom and remind you to come in and cash out. Enjoy your cruise! crochetcruise Posted December 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2015 When I sail November 11, 2016, I'm going to gift myself Casino Credits for the 3 nights I'm aboard. I'll receive vouchers in my Window Suite, which I take to the Casino and exchange. Should there be any money left over, I understand I can cash it out. I'm sure if I've got it wrong, someone will politely clarify things. I'm pre-paying as much as possible, and taking On Board Credit to allow for souvenirs I haven't yet found the price of: still looking for an Australian price on monogrammed pens, magnets and lanyards. Some gift prices are in USD, well I'm calculating 4 USD to 5AUD, and bringing a little extra.
rbt001 Posted December 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2015 Thanks for responding so quickly. So we can charge to our on board account with no transaction fees? Princess currently permits guests to charge up to $3,000 a day to their stateroom account, provided the credit card securing your room account can get sufficient authorization. At slot machines insert your cruise card, and after initially establishing a PIN, a green button or display area on a screen (depending upon ship) allows a room charge. When finished playing on a machine, press the red "Cash Out" button and any remaining credits are adding to your CASINO ACCOUNT which is NOT your stateroom account. At your next machine insert your cruise card, and you can press a button to download funds from your casino account or charge more to your room. When you're all done playing at the end of the cruise, you visit the casino cashier, provide your cruise card and PIN and you are given cash. There is NOT a fee for these charges... HOWEVER. The casino is NOT an ATM: there are safeguards in place to block a passenger's ability to charge to their stateroom account. Make a charge, then cash out with a cashier without any casino play, and your account can be locked out, preventing further charges in the casino. There is an ATM in the casino if you need cash, and yes, there's the usual fee. Remember that Princess does pay a fee for every credit card transaction, which is how guests eventually pay for those casino charges to their stateroom account; currently Princess absorbs those fees for casino charges. Thanks for the more comprehensive explanation. Did not know the limits (and would never come close to them). This seems exactly like the system we've experienced on Carnival Ships (which makes sense).

CruisingJs Posted December 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2015 Can we just use cash? I take only what I can afford to loose. When it is gone......So am I! Don't want to use my card for anything. TIA:) You can always put cash in a machine but you can only cash out to your cruise card. The machines don't pay out cash. Once you have money on your cruise card, you just take it to the casino cashier to get the money.

Does this mean if you put cash in, and you are done and decide to cash out you do not receive a paper ticket? You have to cash out to the cruise card? You have to cash out to the cruise card? That's right. You can only cash out to your cruise card. Then you can take your card to another machine, pull the money off and into another machine or take it to the cashier to get your money.
masterty Posted December 13, 2015 #13 Share Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) One other question... What's the gambling age (DS is 18). Below is directly from the Princess website. AdmissionPersons aged 18 and over are permitted to gamble or linger on the casino floor. Proof of age may be required.
