A Mini Sun Princess Review from 4/9/04

I just have to share a few comments about my Sun Princess trip.

This was my third time on the Sun Princess. I was on her when she was brand new, and the ship is still in wonderful shape. Since that first time I have been on the Grand Class several times and on the old Star and the Crown.

We had the ideal location on the Rivera Deck. (R349) Out the door to the pool and up one deck to the Horizon Court. It was so relaxing and I didn't feel like it was a big excursion to go anywhere. That's the beauty of the smaller ships. I love the Sun's beautiful atrium with the curved staircases and glass elevators. She is still a ship worth traveling on! The balcony cabins are small compared to the Grand Class - but we were OK.

We had one of the best cabin stewards (Humberto), waiters (Miguel) and Casino staff - Rachelle, Tim, Chris, Mark, Big Z, Liz, Lynn, etc. They were all great. Such a fun group.

I will sum up the ports like this - Princess Cays is still a beautiful relaxing day at the beach, St. Thomas is great shopping and also beautiful, Dominique was amazing and lush, Barbados has the most wonderful beaches I have ever seen and I want to go back, Isla Margarita would have been a complete wash-out if it wasn't for the fun we had on the Rumba on La Chiva. Not much on that island and it is pretty dirty - but we still had fun.

Final note - the spa staff was very good, the menus were the same and I'm bored with them, the pizza was the best and we really didn't go to the shows.

10 Days is better than 7 because those sea days are so relaxing and when it is time to pack you are Ok with it instead of sad.

That's it! Next year we do the Coral. By the way, this was a girl's trip and we left the hubbies at home. Go girls!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Over all - we just plain old had a blast!

PS I highly recommend the 5 Star Catamaran in Barbados. It was really nice - where else can you eat flying fish on china plates! icon_eek.gif

We are going on the Sun in November. Can you give us any details on personal choice dining compared to traditional? Right now we're signed up for traditional 2nd seating. Will you be posting any pictures of the Sun? Thanks.
