The Hotel Mercer and the H10 Montcada are good hotels to consider along with the Catelonia Catedral.

 

There are many good options.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Central. It was a great hotel

We spent one night at Hotel 1898 near Gothic area; great hotel, great staff, and great location

Hotel Colon. Lots of info here on this thread,

Colon is great, but it also has a sister hotel, the Regencia Colon, just behind it which is one star less (3 instead of 4) but cheaper and essentially under the same management. Both clean, convenient, and very helpful staff.

What is your budget?? That is the only area I stay!! Love the alleyways cobblestones street performers etc. Ive stayed at the colon with the cathedral view priceless). Hotel 1898 is pricey but if budget permits very highly rated. For a lot less but basic is el jardi ( Rick Steve) I stayed there last year and am staying again 110 euro night. Clean and u can get a balcony or terrace. Very popular with cruisers is hotel jazz but in the eixample area.
