Deck 8 balconies

I had Cabin 8057 for a crossing and I was quite happy. The boats are far enough away that there is lots of light and air coming into your cabin. Plus that particular cabin is between the 2 boats so I had a view straight on but the protection of the life boats from the wind etc. I hate being closed in. Would never book an inside cabin or even a cabin w/ just a porthole or window that did not open.....and I was quite satisfied.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the deck 8 obstructed balconies. How depressing are these?

Not at all! You can see plenty of sea and sky - and on a crossing there is not a lot else to see - but on a cruise that might be a different matter. The cabins are light and airy and having 'outdoors' a step away is a pleasant option from trecking outdoors.
