cruiseonthebrain Posted December 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2015 I am such an idiot that I wanted to ask if anyone else had gotten a severe lower resp sickness on the Legend because I got sick like that when I sailed her a few years back. It was so bad that the same ean room smelled like mildew and the young lady doing my pedicure actually fell asleep two toes in. She said half the crew including her had major respiratory infections. I was young and shallow at the time. Two months later I was still getting medical treatment. Hmm..,
YubaSutter Posted December 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2015 How is this irony?
wlc108 Posted December 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2015 How is this irony? I was trying to figure that out, too. Or if it had something to do with the movie I Am Legend due to the sickness involved.
RubyGold Posted December 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2015 The spa worker fell asleep? What did you do, that must've been really awkward?
RuthlessBoss Posted December 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 23, 2015 So you got sick a few years ago. What are we supposed to say?
ready2cruzagain Posted December 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 23, 2015 :confused::confused:Now sure what you are asking or stating. Not sure how an infection a few years ago would relate to now.
okgirl Posted December 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 23, 2015 I've gotten both upper and lower respiratory infections on ships, but not very often and I cruise 3 or 4 times a year. I'm usually very careful about hand washing and keeping my hands away from my face. The biggest issue for me is that I'm retired and I'm not around large crowds very often, so I try to be very conscious of people with coughs and sniffles. My sister who doesn't cruise seems to get a chest cold every year, but she's around little ones a lot.

Becci Posted December 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2015 I grew up poor and every house I've ever lived in except the current one has had mold So I don't understand everyone's fascination with it. I also went on the Legend this past summer to Alaska and saw no mold. It was cold, we dressed accordingly. We stood outside in the cold rain for hours with our noses running. We also did NOT get sick. If you got sick on Legend it was more likely you failed to wash your hands often enough and got some germs than that the ship made you sick from mold. I do hope you had a good cruise regardless though!
BiggDawg Posted December 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2015 She said half the crew including her had major respiratory infections. I was young and shallow at the time. Two months later I was still getting medical treatment. Hmm.., Let me see if I get this right... People on the ship have respiratory illness. You interact with people on the ship, in enclosed spaces. You got sick. That's not "Irony," that's "predictable." Could have happened at work, or at the mall.
