Freedom unscheduled stop in Cozumel?

Just happened to be looking at the cruise ship tracker and noticed that Carnival Freedom is pulling into Cozumel. According to cruisetimetables, the ship was in Belize yesterday, and today is supposed to be the first of two sea days on the way back to Galveston. Anyone know what's going on?

That was a sharp left-hand turn she took about 2 hours ago to head to Cozumel. More than likely a medical emergency.

Hi, just noticed this post. I was on that cruise and yes, it was a medical emergency. Patient and family were taken off the ship by a small ambulance type boat with paramedics. They pulled up to the side of the ship, picked everyone up and took off for the shore. We didn't even pull up to the pier, we stopped about a mile or so from land out in the deep water off Cozumel. Once the Cozumel pilot got off the Freedom, we spun the ship around and headed back out to Galveston. Everyone on board was wondering what was going on too. Especially when we all could see Cozumel so close to us when we were supposed to be sailing for Galveston.
