Snorkeling at Coco Cay

So, I see the snorkeling "excursion" through RCI is $38, and it seems like I could just buy a set of snorkel gear for that price almost. Is it possible to just rent the gear for a cheaper price, or is the "excursion" just the price of renting the gear?

It used to be that you could just rent the snorkel gear and snorkel on your own--and that was considered an excursion (as opposed to the separate go-out-on-a-boat snorkeling excursions). I'm guessing this is that one. It was $20 when I did it 5 or 6 years ago, so it would make sense that this is the price now. :(
