I'm not sure of the best location for snorkeling. As to an upgrade, it depends on your definition of an upgrade. The cruise lines consider moving from the front or back to the middle of the same deck, in the same category of cabin is an upgrade. Or moving up one deck in the same category of cabin is also an upgrade. However, I would not consider a move from the Caribe deck to Baja deck to be an upgrade because the balconies are smaller. Nor would I consider a move from one of the covered mini suites (which are only on the back end) to an uncovered middle mini suite to be an upgrade either.

 

That said, you pay for the lowest priced cabin in whatever category you choose. There is a good chance you'll end up in a higher priced cabin in the same category. An upgrade from one category to another category (inside to oceanview for example) is rare.
