MikeInPgh Posted October 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2005 OK, rented the clamshell via HAL's website. How do you know which one is yours? or is it something you have to check in for once on HMC? Mike
K&RCurt Posted October 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2005 You get assigned on once you get to HMC. There is a "sports shack" where they rent the floating mats and snorkle gear. You go there and hand them your reservation ticket and then an attendant will go with you to set up your clamshell. You can pretty much pick whatever is available. Try to get there early for the best selection, especially if more than one ship will be at HMC that day.
deekay205 Posted October 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Do you get two beach chairs with the clamshell? We have rented a clamshell for an upcoming cruise but I wondered what would happen if one waited to go to the island later in the morning, e.g. 10:30am? Would all the clamshells be gone? Dee yep. two lounge chairs are in the clamshell to begin with. We got a clamshell in jan and were really happy with it. there were just two of us and it offered us a "homebase" and a little bit of privacy as well.... and for the few bucks that it costs, its so worth it! bh2359 Posted October 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Just off the Zuiderdam a week ago. When we were on HMC, only about half of the clamshells were in use. They remain collasped on the beach until you present your receipt for one and the attendent takes you to it and sets it up for you. You have your choice of any unused one that is on the beach. When only one ship is there, it is not crowded at all. Even when the barbeque lunch station was opened at 11:30, the lines were only four or five people long. HMC is very nice, you'll enjoy it. It IS very hot. We did not notice any mosquitos as others have reported. The sand is a very fine white. Also, they have a tram that will take you from where the tender drops you off to the food area, and back. The food area is about halfway across the half moon beach but behind it where the trees are.
