My family of four traveled to Belize onboard Carnival Valor Dec 29th 2015. After reading comments on this website and the fact that this was our first cruise my wife and I decided we would just wing it and go ashore and see what happens.

We purchased FTTF due to the fact that this was a port that we had to take a tender.

We were among the first off the ship.

This would end up a blessing due to being able to sit right behind the captain of the tending boat.

The captain's name was Jim he was very eager to talk with my wife and I about Belize.

We had a fabulous view of Belize coming in.

Jim asked us what we had planned and we told him nothing.

He recommend 5 Star Tours and to talk to Mr. Myles.

We concerned with some of the comments made on this board about the safety in Belize.

We had our two children with us so we explained this to Jim.

Jim expressed how important tourism is to his business and how important it is to his country.

He said Mr. Myles will take care of you and your family.

Once ashore my wife and I debated the fact of going outside the port to find Mr. Myles.

We could see a person holding a sign with the number 5 and a starfish on it.

We decided that we would go out and speak to him.

Mr. Myles was a very nice man and very easy to talk to.

After some haggling over price to do cave tubing and zip lining we started walking to the van.

While walking to the van a man appeared out of nowhere it seemed.

Mr. Myles introduce him to us as Neko or The Snake Man this would be our guide.

Once to the van we paid Mr. Myles for our adventure in Belize.

The van was a Ford mini van which was clean and did not smell at all.

Neko explained some of the points of Belize to us and some of the areas we drove by.

He did have to stop for gas but this was great for our children they were able to see some of the life in Belize due to us sitting still instead of flying by.

The drive out to the caves takes about an hour.

All I could do was worry about getting back in time.

I did not want to miss the last tender.

I have never been to Belize and I did not want my family to spend the night in Belize.

Neko tried to put me at ease by explaining that he would have us back in plenty of time and not to worry as we were in good hands.

But the entire hour ride that's all I worried about.

Once at the site Neko showed us where we could change.

I kept our valuable's on my person in a waterproof pouch.

We were fitted with helmets, life jackets and handed a tube.

The walk to the start of the river is a bit physical.

It takes about 25 to 30 minutes to complete but once you arrive at the river and jump in its all worth it.

Neko explained the caves to us.

He swam almost the entire length of the adventure.

Once the cavetubing was over we got out of the water and heading back to turn in the equipment.

Neko then took us over to the zip lining area.

We were fitted with the equipment and started off.

There are six points to zip line from.

If I remember correctly the second point was the highest point we had to walk to.

It took a bit to walk up to it.

But once again it was worth it.

The views were awesome.

Once we were done we headed back down to the van and found Neko.

We loaded up and started the drive back to the port.

Neko explained some more of the points of Belize.

I asked him about his tips and if his tips go to the company first.

He told us no that this company is different form the other ones he has worked for.

He explained that he keeps his own tips from his customers.

When we arrived back at this port we had hours to walk around.

Mr. Myles met us when we pulled up.

He shook my hand and said see I told you that I would have you and your family back in plenty of time.

I would think I tipped Neko very well.

He did an awesome job of being our guide for the day.

I would have no problem hiring them again if we go.

Hope this is not to long just wanted to share our time in Belize and the fact that we loved it there and felt very safe while with Neko and 5 Star Tours
