Brilliance of the Seas---Rome excursions?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are booked for the 12 day Med Cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas in June 2016. When looking at excursions there do not appear to be ANY for Rome. Does that make sense? What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Kim

Apart from the ship's tours to Rome and Florence etc., there may also be some fellow passengers organising a few private tours that could save you a lot of money. We are also on the Brilliance of the Seas, doing the Med/Greek Isles cruise on the 19th June and hope that there will be some private tours to join. We did almost the same cruise in June 2014 and did some great private tours with some of our fellow passengers though "Rome-in-Limo" who offered some fantastic tours at excellent prices.

Did the 12 day Med. cruise RT Barcelona on the Brillance in 2006. It was great.

I happened to do all the planning but I booked private tours for each port and it was fantastic and alot less expensive. You definitely want to go to your roll call and see if anyone has booked private and needs more guests. I mean, you go where you want, have great guides, and spend alot less. Picture this. You are stopped at a picture stop along the Almafi coast, just the 6-8 of you and your guide and your Mercedes van....... along pulls up a monster bus with 50 people piling out of it.......... and they paid more than you did!!!

Had no problems as booked private guides as recommended and mentioned here in cruise critic and never got back late to ship etc. Go private if you can! Pooh

We also did a 12 day Med cruise on the Brilliance in 2008. Used Rome in Limo for Florence/Pisa and Rome with great drivers and guides. Had the absolute best meal in Florence at a restaurant that our driver made reservations for us. In Rome our driver even pre-purchased our Coliseum tickets for us and they furnished us with a private guide for The Vatican. For Naples/Amalfi coast we hired Francesco Marrapese Tours. It was excellent! We were able to drive right down into the centers of Sorrento, Amalfi and Ravello where the big tour busses had to park way out. Each time we had time for great lunches at fantastic restaurants. The one in Ravello was on the side of a cliff looking over the Med. Would book these tours again without hesitation. After we got back to the ship after the Rome/Vatican tour we ran into several people that took ships tours. They paid more, had less time to see things, no free time and only were given 20 minutes to grab lunch at McDonalds of all things.
