Getting to the Port during Mardi Gras

Does anyone know what the streets/traffic is like getting to the port during Mardi Gras? We are staying somewhat northwest of the port area. Google Map says it's normally about a 15 minute drive to the French Quarter from where we are and I suppose normally you could add another 15 minutes to the port? Just wondering how much extra time to allow on Sunday, January 31st for street closings, etc.

Thanks!

You should not have a problem. There are three or four parades that day, but they start uptown and won't reach downtown until early afternoon, and there will be no road closures until shortly before then.

Your route to the cruise terminal on the Pontchartrain Expressway will take you over the parade route.
