SquishTheWhale Posted January 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2016 Hey glad you had a good time! We loved it and are missing the Epic already. What was your best meal? My fave was Cagney's, but there was also a few stand out dishes in the MDR.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted January 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2016 Will you be writing a review? :D I'm leaving for Barcelona in 45 days! Did you travel solo? If so, would especially enjoy reading a review and hearing your thoughts... Thanks!
SunSand11 Posted January 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2016 What was the temperature? Were people tanning? If so, is there a good spot out of the breeze? Also, many kids? Thanks!
soloadventurer Posted January 16, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 16, 2016 My view on missing the port - is simple a warning of sort must have been received - I've worked in the shipping industry ( tugs etc ) and the wind wasn't that extreme I heard the Cpt table offered Temps weren't to bad bit breezy - nice spot straight up the middle of the kids pool between the slides broke the wind up Fav stop Funchal Very few kids and well behaved Fav meal oh hard one lol had some lovely meals in Taste ( one lovely steak ) but I did have a fantastic meal in Moderno No I didn't travel Solo but have in the past on the Epic One other thing the Spa was quite busy - which was a shame
SquishTheWhale Posted January 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2016 We definitely at least tried to dock in Morocco! Our cabin was aft and we got vibrations whenever docking. The morning of Morocco it vibrated for ages, much longer than other ports. So I do think that says we tried to dock several times and failed. I was a bit surprised about them blaming the winds too though as it didn't feel too windy, but who knows what conditions right in the port were like. soloadventurer Posted January 16, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted January 16, 2016 I was in the gym and could see the dock and sea wall - waves were hardly breaking on it ;)

Koigirl Posted January 20, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I know this ship has open dining but could anyone tell me if there is still a Captains night, which usually means a special meal in the general dining room (I don't want to book another dining venue and miss out on the special evening meal in the main dining room). Also, is it worth paying to go to the shows, I understand you have to book before you board. Many thanks.

Many thanks. its a choice to book the shows before, if you have your heart set on a certain date/time its best to book before you arrive, but you can book shows, and the other entertainment such as comedians which are not available for pre-booking onboard. Also, is it worth paying to go to the shows, I understand you have to book before you board. Many thanks. I believe the only show you have to pay for is the Cirque dinner show. I've booked that and with SDP, it was half price. There are only two other shows available for booking, which are Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Burn the Floor. You don't pay for either of those--you add them to your cart, but the cost is zero.
soloadventurer Posted January 22, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Laundry bag I think was $20 - did the Cirque dinner show I enjoyed it. Re Captains table I heard people asking about forms at guest services for it.
okeytaco Posted January 27, 2016 #21 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Do you know what type of coffee maker is in the balcony rooms? Pod type or 4 cup with a filter? I really dislike Maxwell House which is what I think they have so I'll want to bring my own. Just don't know whether to bring pods or ground coffee. Thanks for your review! red212fire212 Posted January 27, 2016 #22 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Lovely that you are holding a Q&A sesh!! did you go in the casino and if so did you need cash (dollars?) in there? Do you need cash on the ship or is it all billed to the room? Thank you in advance
ulster-cruiser Posted January 27, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Lovely that you are holding a Q&A sesh!! did you go in the casino and if so did you need cash (dollars?) in there? Do you need cash on the ship or is it all billed to the room? Thank you in advance You need dollars to play in the casino. I normally change some before I leave home. You can also get dollars by adding to your bill however they will charge 3% Casino fee to add to your bill. Everything can be billed to your room, there is not really any necessity for cash onboard the boat.

SwissLe Posted January 27, 2016 #25 Share Posted January 27, 2016 My view on missing the port - is simple a warning of sort must have been received - I've worked in the shipping industry ( tugs etc ) and the wind wasn't that extreme I heard the Cpt table offered I saw them trying to dock with tugs, thrusters and bouncing around, so I don't think that theory is correct this time. The port is very exposed, unlike the coves we had on other days which may've been the reason. The captain's table is different to the chefs table. You can enter a competition to eat with the captain for free, look out for the postings in the daily and you need a slip from guest services to enter. I didn't see the chef's table offered on either of my cruises, but I didn't actively look for it.
