Infants in swimming pool

Ok, the CORK conversation had me laughing out loud, literally!! A co-worker walked by my office and saw me laughing at my computer. She said "what are you laughing at?". I just said "oh nothing, just an email from a friend". Now, I happen to work for a winery. Should I bring a few bags of corks and hand them out at the pool???

WooHoo, cruisin' again in May 2004!

Absolutely!!!! Hand one to every parent heading to the pool with a diapered child. Now we have to find someone to hand out plastic drink cups with TIGHT elastic for the other end.

That's great, but I was on a cruise where the parent was smart enough to know that diapers didn't belong in the pool, but not smart enough to realize that the same kid, sans diapers, STILL didn't belong in the pool.

at that point, you have 2 options:

#1 Contact a staffer to explain to the parent that isn't acceptable

#2 Get butt-a@@ naked yourself and ask if she likes that. If she answers in the affirmative, threaten to take a dump LOL

I dunno Sue..it may explain why it was left of the final report (you can check out the CDC reports and the ship's responses [if available] here: CDC inspections

All I can say is I'm sticking to the adult pools for sure!

quote:
Our toddler is VERY adventurous and likes to run around and play but has a great disposition so I am hoping all will be ok - I'll have to ship a box of toys down but that should be fine.

Pshkbb,

The above quote is from your post on the "Opinions on taking an 18 month old on Caribbean Princess" thread.

Since you are bringing so many toys anyway, why not pack your own small, inflatable pool for your child? The staff is very accommodating so we are sure they would be willing to fill it with water for you. You could set it up on deck, near the children's zone, & your little one could splish/splash 'til their heart is content! When the tyke is done playing for the day you simply have the water emptied down a drain, deflate the pool, & take it back to your room with you.

The other passengers will appreciate your considerate actions once they realize that if your child had an "oops" (add a "P" or not!) it would be contained in your darling's personal space without contaminating the entire ship pool.

salty dawg,

nothing personal - I understand people's reluctance to swiming with kids in swim diapers however when you are paying FULL PRICE for a toddler they should be allowed to enjoy all the ammentities of the ship as well as the rest of the passengers. Plus these days - swim diapers are made really well and don't leak - it is really a matter of the parents keeping a close eye and making sure to get their child out of the pool and changing those diapers on a regular basis....

Also, no disrespect, maybe it comes down to respect, and the health, for other passengers, including children that are out of diapers. It would be a shame for other children to get a virus and be sick because a little one wasn't caught in time.

Quote: On our Golden cruise they had to shut down the main pool for 2 days for "sanitization" allegedly b/c of an infant's accident in the pool. I too feel bad for the little ones...but the alternative is YUCK! Also, Princess now posts signs that children in diapers are not allowed in the pools.

Quote: We didn't have kids with us, but I noticed that on the front page of the Princess Patter last week was a notice that no children in diapers were allowed in the pools. It didn't make any distinction re: children's or adult pools.

Quote: And what most people don't realize is the main mode of transmission for Norwalk is...you guessed it...fecal contamination.

So, let this be a lesson. If there is an outbreak of Norwalk on a ship you are on, instead of just giving up going to the buffet, consider giving up the pools too.
