Komodo island Use of Cell Phone

Want to share my experience about using local Indonesian SIM cards in Komodo Island.

My cruise Holland America - Volendam docked at Tanjong Priok and a free shuttle provided by the ship brought us to a shopping center nearby. Bought a "XL" brand SIM card which worked well in all the ports except Komodo.

If you want to use data and make calls in Komodo, then you must buy a Telkomsel card. This is the only card that works.

Price wise, both are about the same low price USD 10 for 2GB and some calls and SMS.

When registering, you will need a copy of your passport or ID>
