UBP while in Port?

No slips does make the transaction go quicker. The down side is for the bartenders and servers. Some passengers that would add an additional tip on to the slip don't now. Having talked to a couple of the bartenders, and their tips have taken a hit since the new no slip process was implemented. I've always tipped cash, so it has no impact on what I spend.

We were in Breakaway December 20th cruise. We paid tax while in port in NY before we sailed away ... Total spent $4.39. We also paid tax while I port in FL $8.54 total $12.93. We didn't get to go to GSC but given that it is in the Caribbean-- don't see how any tax could be assessed.

We also didn't sign any slips - just had card swiped and served a drink worked much better than having to sign a slip ... Enjoy !!!

So in your opinion there are no other countries in the world except US that might have sales tax or VAT? :D

GSC is part of Bahamas and Bahamas have sales tax too, just like all EU countries have VAT so that is charged on top of every drink purchase on itineraries that do not call outside EU tax area.

I think they meant since you're on the water, not in port that there's no taxes charged.
